Aqua Jetty News December 2020/January 2021
From the Coordinator
Welcome to summer at Aqua Jetty and right across
all City of Rockingham aquatic and leisure facilities.
Just like that, Santa is suddenly at our doorsteps (or
chimneys), and we are getting ready to bring in a
fresh new year in 2021. I think it goes without saying
that we will all be somewhat pleased to see the back
of 2020 – the year of ‘unprecedented’, ‘new normal’
and ‘flattening the curve.’

Happy holidays to all our members, with a
special shout out to our Livewell cohort, who
have been especially courageous and patient
this year. As we’ve navigated our way through
COVID-19, our Livewell members – who
unfortunately form part of the high risk group
of the pandemic – have remained steadfast
and positive, continuing to participate in
programs and activities at Aqua Jetty, WCRC
and in our Community Outreach Programs at
Secret Harbour, Golden Bay and Baldivis. We
successfully launched our new Strength for Life
program prior to our mandated shut down in
March, and have continued to grow since our
reopening in June.

Thank you to major sponsors Malibu Fresh Essentials, Sitting Pretty Skin & Body,
Three Amigos Cooking Co and Independent Décor for your support, and to
everyone who helped, donated and advocated to make the day amazing.
A massive shout out to our '10-hour riders' Jen, Kaye, Madeline, Patrick and

All funds raised will help make a difference in the lives of people affected by
mental health challenges.
Group Fitness Generosity
A massive thank you and congratulations to everyone who got behind our
Salvation Army Christmas Appeal in 2020. The Appeal was well supported
again by all our generous members and patrons, and all contributions were
extremely appreciated by the Salvation Army, who expressed their delight in
Aqua Jetty’s - and the entire City of Rockingham’s – participation.
What’s coming up for Group Fitness in 2021? We will see a Les Mills Launch
event live at Aqua Jetty during ‘quarter one’ - and we cannot wait! Dates
and details will be announced soon, but it’s sure to be an awesome event.
Bring your friends and family along for free to experience first-hand the
incredible group fitness program that we run in conjunction with Les Mills at
Aqua Jetty and Warnbro Community Recreation Centre.
The 26th of January will also see the return of ‘Australia Day Aqua’ – a 100
participant event where the entire 25 m pool is closed to host an ‘All Aussie,
All In’ Aqua Class at 9.30am. This event fills up almost every year so make
sure you stay informed with details closer to the event.
Thank you as always to our loyal participants and incredibly dedicated
instructors – it’s because of you that our Group Fitness culture is such that it
really does feel like one great big family.
Top honour for Richard
Congratulations to our fearless leader, Richard, for winning the
City’s Community Development Individual RESPECT Award for
2020. Richard was nominated by a number of his team members
for his steadfast and positive leadership throughout the COVID-19
closure and relaunch of the City of Rockingham’s leisure facilities in
June, described as a “true inspiration to us all.”.What’s On
