ART LEAGUE OF HILTON HEAD PRESENTS Craft HiltonHead2018 , Art League's 6th National Juried Fine Arts Craft Guild Exhibition, which occurs once ev ery two years, will showcase ov er one hundred 2 and 3-dimensional craft works of featured artists from around the country, competing for ov er
$4,000 in cash awards. The selection of the finalists will be by two
nationally-recognized jurors, Linda Bloom and Patricia Willcox.
Linda Bloom's career has spanned ov er 30 years in the v isual and
performing arts. She has serv ed as a working artist, public school
art educator, cultural arts director, gallery director, art historian,
museum curator, public art administrator and arts center
dev elopment director. She prev iously serv ed as juror
of Craft HiltonHead2012 .
Patricia Willcox is an award-winning 3-dimensional multi-media
craftsman, teacher, and entrepreneur. Her work as a costume
designer for the past 40 years in mov ies and on the theater
stage has greatly influenced her own fantasy figurativ e art in
fiber and clay.
This exclusiv e presentation of a wide v ariety of imaginativ e crafts
will be on display and for sale December 4-29, 2018. An Awards
Reception will highlight the exhibition on December 5, 2018, from
5 to 7pm. This free, open to the public, artistic ev ent will take
place during the entire run of the professional production of An
American in Paris, on stage at the Arts Center of Coastal
Carolina.

Because of you, 2018 has been a v ery successful year for Art
League of Hilton Head. Our exhibition members are at an all-time
high. Our Academy workshops brought in many national
instructors. Our collaborations are growing and our ov erall
impact on the arts in HHI is increasing ev ery day.
Please renew for 2019, at or hopefully abov e, your existing
membership lev el. You can renew online, or at either the Gallery
or Academy. If you renew before the end of the year, you can
use it as a charitable tax deduction.

exhibition fees in the area without any required v olunteer

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
This has been a dynamic year of growt h and change for Art League of Hilt on
Head. We've added st aff and increased our hours so t hat we are open 7
days a week! Check out our improved websit e (Art LeagueHHI.org) where
you can now sign up online for classes and RENEW your membership. It 's
t hanks t o our t errific st aff, board and volunt eers t hat we are able t o move in
t his direct ion. We end t his year wit h our bi-annual Nat ional Juried Fine Art
Craft Guild exhibit ion - an opport unit y for our art ist s t o showcase t heir work
wit h art ist s from all over t he count ry. AND, an opport unit y for us t o find t hat
perfect gift for someone special (or just t o t reat ourselves!).
Our new mission st at ement says it so well - "inspiring t he visual art s for our
communit y and it s visit ors t hrough educat ion, exhibit ion and part nerships".
No one does it bet t er t han we do! I'm excit ed t o work wit h our new board t o

In t he past , Art League Academy has been support ive of t he art ist s at
Allendale Correct ional Inst it ut ion. A new program at Allendale has been
developed, Advanced Art ist s of Allendale. We are pleased t o announce
t hey will be t he feat ured art ist s at Art League Gallery for August 2019.
For t hese men, art has brought "Transcendence" (name of t heir show) t o
t heir lives. It has been a way t o rehabilit at e t hem and has brought purpose
and hope for t heir fut ures. As excit ing as t he upcoming exhibit ion is, as it will
bring nat ional at t ent ion t o t he group and t o Art League of Hilt on Head, t he
program is dependent upon donat ions. Becoming professional art ist s is t he
dream of t hese men, many of whom hope t o have a career in t he art
indust ry when t heir t ime has been served. Sadly, art supplies are expensive
and many of t hem have no means t o obt ain supplies.
YOUR UNUSED SUPPLIES COULD REA LLY HELP!
Advanced Art ist s of Allendale are in need of:
New or gent ly used art supplies, including but not limit ed t o: paint ,
brushes, canvases, paper, et c.
