           new. But Bart Layton, the acclaimed filmmaker behind The

           filmmaking to new heights with his visually and narratively
           daring American Animals. Detailing the 2004 attempt by
           four young men to steal John James Audubon’s prelapsarian
           portrait of America’s natural world ‘The Birds of America’
           from a library in Lexington, Kentucky, Layton’s film gradually
           draws us into his protagonists’ fantasy world whilst also
           questioning the accuracy of any attempt to record real events.
