The City’s key procurement priorities are creating opportunities for businesses of all sizes, and Chicago Works capital plan
helping them grow so they can participate in the business of Chicago. contracting opportunities are

Small Business Initiative (SBI): Exclusive to small businesses and limited to construction following highlighting:

Mid-Sized Business Initiative (MBI): Small and mid-sized local construction firms can bid SMALL BUSINESS

CAPITAL PLAN
PROJECTS
The Chicago Works Five-Year Capital Plan is a multi-billion-dollar initiative to allocate and
improve the quality of life for all Chicago residents by investing in infrastructure and City
facilities in all 77 communities. The Plan is estimated to put thousands of Chicagoans back to
work and will address the decades-long backlog of infrastructure needs.
Promotes equity, public safety and year-to-year project continuity by funding repairs in
every neighborhood. Aims to reduce operational costs and years of complaints about aging
infrastructure.
Outlines significant steps to address deferred maintenance needs in City buildings such as
libraries, firehouses, office buildings and health centers across Chicago.
Contracting process will place a high priority on using minority, women-owned and locally
owned businesses.
