Edward was self-taught and self-professed Demonologist, author and lecturer. Lorraine professed clairvoyant and a medium of light trance that has worked closely with her husband. In 1952, the Warren
fondò the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), the oldest ghost hunting group in New England. [5] They authored many books on the paranormal, and about their private investigations in various reports of paranormal activity. They claimed to have studied more than 10,000 cases in the course of their career. [6] The Warrens were
among the first researchers in the Amityville haunting. According to Warren, the official website of NESPR, Viviglam Magazine and several other sources, the NESPR uses a variety of people, including doctors, researchers, police officers, nurses, university students and members of the clergy in its investigations.
