COVID-19 Vaccination
Program: Business and
Organisation Stakeholder Kit
Vaccines save lives. We know that vaccination is the most effective way to protect against
infectious diseases. COVID-19 has changed our lives and changed the world. The only path
we have out this pandemic – and the devastation it has caused – is by arming ourselves
against COVID-19.
The Department of Health has developed the Arm Yourself campaign to encourage
Australians to vaccinate to protect themselves, their loved ones, the people they care about,
and the wider community from COVID-19.
You can help
We need your support to help encourage the Australian public to receive their COVID-19
vaccine and booster four months after the second dose, because we’re not safe, until
we’re all safe.
Businesses and organisations will play a vital role in the success of these campaigns as an
influential and trusted voice within your communities.
This kit includes campaign key messages and links to materials including videos, radio files,
posters, social media content and images, sample website and newsletter content. Also
included is information on how businesses may offer rewards to vaccinated staff and
customers.
We encourage you to use the resources provided in this kit to help spread the message of the
importance of vaccination, encourage people to look for accurate information from trusted
sources and lead by example in promoting the vaccination program – for the benefit of
businesses and communities.
How businesses and organisations can help raise awareness
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has implemented arrangements to facilitate the
communication of information about approved COVID-19 vaccines. These arrangements
1permit health professionals, businesses, organisations and media outlets to develop their own
materials about TGA approved COVID-19 vaccines.
The arrangements, which will be in place until the end of 2022, have given health
professionals and Australian businesses more flexibility to contribute to the national
conversation about vaccination.
Under these new arrangements, organisations can generate their own informational materials
to support COVID-19 vaccination, provided the content is consistent with Government
messaging and does not contain:
• references to specific brands of vaccines, or compare different COVID-19 vaccines
• statements that COVID-19 vaccines cannot cause harm or have no side effects
• any statement that is false or misleading
• promotion of any vaccine that has not been approved by the TGA.
You can also consider how you can use your communication network to help spread
awareness about the importance of the COVID-19 vaccination. Some examples include:
• Optus undertaking an SMS campaign to promote the vaccine rollout to customers
• Coles using its Flybuys network, covering over 6 million customers, to encourage them
to get vaccinated.
Boosters: help keep your staff and customers protected
A booster dose will make sure the protection from the first dose is even stronger and longer
lasting and should help prevent spread of the virus.
You are eligible for a COVID-19 booster dose if:
• you are 18 years and older, and
• have had your second dose of your primary dose course of COVID-19 vaccination at
least four months ago.
Spikevax (Moderna) and Comirnaty (Pfizer) are the recommended vaccines for booster doses
– regardless of what vaccine a person received for their primary course of vaccination.
Businesses and organisations are strongly encouraged to promote booster vaccinations as
more people become eligible in 2022.
