    essential for those who provide this care to remain
    current in the evaluation and management of
    pediatric illnesses, diseases and conditions.
    The Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel
    Current Topics in Pediatrics conference provides
    state-of-the-art updates in pediatric care.
    Participants will gain practical knowledge from
    the multidisciplinary faculty via lectures, case
    presentations and literature reviews on current
    information for a variety of conditions affecting
    children and adolescents.

Target audience
Practicing pediatricians, family practice physicians, primary care providers,
nurse practitioners, nurses and allied health care professionals
Desired outcomes
• Discuss ways to implement evidence-based practice changes to optimally
  treat neonatal abstinence syndrome in the primary care setting.
• Review the diagnostic criteria for, the prevalence of and the effectiveness
  of frenotomy for treatment of tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) in infants.
• Describe the epidemiology of syphilis, the clinical manifestations in infants
  and pediatric patients and recommended treatment regimens.
• Review common and uncommon presenting signs and symptoms of and
  treatment guidelines for newborn CMV.
• Identify tools to use in advising children and parents in reducing the
  negative impacts and increasing the positive impacts of technology
  engagement.
• Present data from RCH participation in multicenter research studies of
  inpatient asthma management and reduction of excessive variability in
  infant sepsis evaluation.
• Discuss the common pitfalls encountered and practical aspects for
  managing the pediatric patient with anxiety or depression.
• Summarize current pediatric and neonatal research and how it can be
  applied in practice.
