Global Lethbridge, a division of Shaw Media, is looking for a full time ENG/Production Supervisor who is
a proven broadcast professional with the skills to work in a competitive news environment. This position
will report to the News Director.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
** Works with videographers to coach them on innovative shooting and editing techniques.
** Provides detailed feedback to videographers about their story presentation and shooting style.
** Ensure all news vehicles and equipment are maintained.
** Develop and implement workflow procedures and policies to ensure efficient functioning of the station.
** Shoot, edit and feed news, promotional and marketing material as required.
** Operate a company vehicle.
** Cover a variety of roles to ensure everyone in the newsroom comes together to work as a team.
** Shift work, evenings and weekends will be required.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
** Previous experience as an ENG Camera Operator and Editor
** Proven ability to adapt to future technological changes
** Strong editorial knowledge of our market and the stories our audience wants to see.
** Serve as an ambassador for the station representing Global Lethbridge
** Post-secondary diploma in journalism or television production is preferable.
** Ability to operate a camera to shoot news or other material.
** Fast and efficient editor with superior knowledge of non-linear editing systems
** Excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills
** Valid Alberta driver’s licence (abstract will be required)
** Positive, can-do attitude is essential.

Community Relations Coordinator

As a Community Relations Coordinator, the following is an outline of some but not all of the primary
functions and responsibilities for this position:
** Anchor and produce a daily segment that highlights events that are happening in the community
** Candidate should have a large contact base of a variety of people in the community
** Community Partnerships –– negotiates sponsorships to support worthwhile local initiatives while
expanding Global’s brand and reputation in the community
** Meets with community groups on a regular basis to promote the Global Lethbridge brand
** Coordinate and respond to community requests for on-air personality appearances and requests for
donation items
** Sit on committees, participate in media events and attend luncheons/dinners
** Connect with viewers/community through outreach (station tours, diversity initiatives, special charity
and station events)
** Operate a company vehicle
** Publish promotional content to Global Lethbridge’s website and social media platforms to fulfill
partnerships and engage viewers
** Speak regularly at public events and act as master of ceremonies when required
** You will be required to cover a variety of roles to ensure everyone in the newsroom comes together to
work as a team.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
** Degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism from a recognized institution.
** On-air experience as a host
** Should be familiar with current state of online news reporting and publishing.
** Familiarity and ease in using Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media.
** Must have excellent people skills with the ability to work independently, effectively, and cooperatively
in a team environment.
** Excellent communication and organizational skills
** A variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends
** Must be able to work under pressure & meet tight deadlines to complete projects on a timely basis
** Must be resourceful and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills
** Must have a valid Alberta driver’s licence (abstract will be required)
** A pPositive, can-do attitude is essential.

Videographer

The successful candidate will be responsible for writing, producing and delivering content on all Global
Lethbridge platforms.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
** General assignment reporting for Global Lethbridge.
** All stories filed must be shot, written and edited by the selected candidate each day as this is a
videographer role.
** Anchor newscasts as required.
** Write, line-up and produce various newscasts as required.
** Take a leadership role in editorial decisions.
** Write and vet news copy for on-air and online, including intros, questions, story leads and bumpers.
** Initiate and monitor story development, contacts and maintain quality of production.
** Monitor all news sources, including feeds, wires, and social media.
** Chase breaking news stories –– including coordination of interviews and facilitating pictures and video
for online coverage.
** Communicate breaking or changing news situations with online and show producer.
** Assist in the coordination of videographers when necessary.
** Operate a company vehicle.
** Contribute daily content for all Global Lethbridge on-line properties.
** You will be required to cover a variety of roles to ensure everyone in the newsroom comes together to
work as a team each day.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
** Degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism from a recognized institution.
** At least 2 years’’ experience as a news anchor, reporter and videographer
** Proficient knowledge of camera work and how to shoot a story for a newscast
** Proven ability to write accurate, concise, creative copy for broadcast and online
** Excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills
** Ability to develop sources, contacts and research original content.
** Willingness and ability to use digital technology and social media to generate content and develop
audience interaction.
** Should be familiar with current state of online news reporting and publishing.

Anchor/Newsroom Manager

Global Lethbridge, a division of Shaw Media, is looking for a full-time Anchor/Newsroom Manager who
is a proven broadcast professional with the skills to lead a competitive news environment. This position
will report to the News Director.

The successful candidate will be a proven journalist with demonstrable leadership skills and the ability
to excel in a competitive environment with a motivated team. This leadership role will be responsible for
assigning stories to videographers, coordinating with producers and resources and will be the primary
liaison at Global Lethbridge. Additionally, this position schedules all staff in Lethbridge and manages the
day-to-day operations of the newsroom.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
** Manage a team in a local newsroom.
** Lead daily editorial meeting with all staff in Lethbridge providing vision and a clear outline of the day.
** Guide the editorial direction of newscasts, online, weather and community segments.
** Train and develop staff to produce strong stories that are enterprising and unique to Global Lethbridge.
** Conduct weekly look-ahead meetings that focus on future story ideas and promotable features.
** Oversee implementation of new initiatives and technologies.
** Responsible for weekly staff schedules ensuring adequate coverage for vacations.
** Perform performance reviews, assist with hiring, staff reassignment and discipline.
** Vet all videographer stories for both broadcast and online and provide daily feedback to improve
writing.
** Work with the marketing team and the community relations coordinator to promote Global Lethbridge
in the community.
** Ensure Global News Principles and Practices are strictly adhered to all times.
** Anchor newscasts as required.
** Write, line-up and produce various newscasts as required.
** Coordinate with crew in Calgary for all technical elements in the newscast along with editorial support
as required.
** You will be required to cover a variety of roles to ensure everyone in the newsroom comes together to
work as a team each day.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
** Minimum 4 years experience as a news anchor.
** Degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism from a recognized institution.
** Experience as a leader in a newsroom.
** The successful candidate will excel on difficult assignments and has a proven initiative to get the job
done.
** The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, an exceptional people person and works well in a
team environment.
** Proven ability to write accurate, concise, creative copy for broadcast and online.
** Ability to develop sources, contacts and research original content.
** Willingness and ability to use digital technology and social media to generate content and develop
audience interaction.
** Proficient in online news reporting and publishing.
** Position may involve a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
