City of Belleville Recreation
Program Fee Assistance
Why is it important?
We believe that all residents of Belleville should be given the opportunity to enjoy the many
benefits of participating in recreation activities, regardless of their financial situation.
Who is eligible?
Residents of Belleville; families and/or individuals living below the “Low-Income Cut Off” (LICO) level are eligible to apply
and the subsidy assistance amount will be determined on an individual basis, with subsidies from 25% to 75% off the cost
of the program. Should there be a request for assistance from a resident who exceeds the income levels on the Recreation
Subsidy Chart, an assessment will be completed to determine other options for payment and/or support to the applicant.
What is available for subsidy?
If approved the applicant will be eligible to register for the
following programs/workshops:
• All children’s camps
• Group aquatic lessons
• Group skating lessons
• Group programs/workshop sessions
Up to 50% off Workout Studio, Gym, Swim & Skate
Passes, Aqua-fitness & Land Fitness Passes.
• Private & Semi-private lessons, advanced courses &
supplies not eligible for subsidy
How to apply: It’s as easy as 1 – 2 – 3!
1. G et your subsidy application form at the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre (265 Cannifton Road) or online
at www.qswc.ca
2. Drop off your application (or fax or e-mail) and make an appointment by calling 613-967-3200 ext. 3266. At the
appointment, bring in the applicant’s (or parent/guardian, if under 18) Personal Income Tax Notice/GST/Child Tax Credit
Assessment Forms from Revenue Canada, ODSP Payment stubs as acceptable proof of income for every member of the
household over the age of 18 and one piece of picture ID that shows current address or a picture ID and a utility bill/
rental agreement showing current address.
3. You will be notified within 10 business days of the subsidy available. You only need to apply for the subsidy once per
year and if approved your name will be placed on a list, enabling you to register for programs without having to re-apply
each time. The balance of the registration fee must be paid at least 2 weeks before the program/workshop begins.
Programs must have the minimum required number of participants enrolled in order for it to run.
The “Playing for Keeps” program strives to give all children and
youth the opportunity to experience the fun of being a child.
“Playing for Keeps” is a special fund distributed and administered
by the The Children’s Foundation, which helps pay for the cost of
registration so children can participate in recreational programs.
To be eligible for funding, children and youth must reside in Hastings
County and be ages 4-18 years from families with an inability to pay.
Funds may be provided to help with the cost of participating in
sport, recreation, arts and cultural activities, which require at least
biweekly organized participation. For example: Brownies/Scouts,
swimming lessons, soccer, softball, music lessons, etc.
For more information, please contact The Children’s Foundation at: 613-962-9292 or www.thechildrensfoundation.com to
complete your application online.

Pool Closed: Aug. 24th – Sept. 15th for Annual Maintenance
(Belleville Kinsmen Pool – heated, located at 151 Dundas St. East will remain open until September 14th during maintenance)
WHY IS AN ANNUAL MAINTENANCE REQUIRED?
Traditionally, all large pools close for a period of maintenance each year. As pools are very busy throughout the year, they require
deep down cleaning and thorough maintenance that requires machinery (i.e. lifts) to be on the deck. Pools and their mechanical
systems need to be drained, inspected, cleaned, re-grouted (when necessary), and it requires time down in order to complete
these tasks each year. If regular maintenance is not done each year we could be forced to shut down the pool in the middle of
the season and faced with a situation where we are waiting for mechanical parts. This would impact our regular users and our
scheduled programs.
Pool schedule is subject to change. Check www.qswc.ca for updates.
