ANNOUNCEMENT
Administration is attempting to renew a Municipal
Newsletter to keep our community in the loop. There
are many aspects to the Municipality and we will start
this first issue with news from various departments.
A special thank you to Jane for giving us a little mes-
sage to peak our interest to search for another way to
get information out there.
I am hoping this will help our community to acquire in-
formation in a more accessible way.
Kind Regards,
Carrie Lewis, CAO/Clerk-Treasurer

STAFF CHANGES AT THE MUNICIPALITY
The Municipality of Gordon/Barrie Island says goodbye
to Melanie Chatwell. After 13 years with us, Melanie has
decided to retire and enjoy our community from anoth-
er perspective. Council and Staff will miss Melanie very
much; and I am sure the taxpayers will too.
The Municipality would like you to join us in welcoming
a new Deputy Clerk-Treasurer. Connor Woestenenk
started his new position April 1st, 2021. Connor will be
taking courses related to Municipal government and he
welcomes the opportunity to learn and get familiar with
the people in the community.

MESSAGE FROM THE REEVE
The Municipality of Gordon/Barrie Island is pleased to present a Community
Safety and Well-Being Plan. This plan was a collaborative effort between eight
Manitoulin Island communities. The priority was identified to work towards a
common goal of a safe living environment and the overall well-being of all our
residents and visitors.

Gordon/Barrie Island is committed to working with all resources available to
ensure the objectives of this plan are fulfilled. We understand that this will be
a working document that will require updating and will evolve with time.

The Municipality looks forward to future partnering projects with our neigh-
