About the School of Chemical & Life Sciences (CLS)

CLS is often known as the most colourful school in SP. This is because we offer a wide range
of courses to train technologists, scientists and specialists for the food, polymer, chemicals,
petrochemicals, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare and biomedical industries.

With a team of over 100 qualified and experienced academic and technical support staff, CLS
offers 6 full-time diplomas. Upon completion of the diploma programme, our graduates can be
gainfully employed as food technologists, polymer technologists, industrial chemists, process
technologists, biotechnologists, medical technologists, cardiac technologists, optometrists,
and nutrition and health specialists.

Additionally, CLS has excellent industry and academic links, both locally and regionally.
Course curricula are always kept up-to-date based on feedback from the industries,
universities and past graduates. Many of our staff also serve in external professional
committees and their technical expertise has been deployed in consultancy or applied R&D
work.

Student training is supported by state-of-the-art facilities housing sophisticated equipment,
which provide students with the necessary hands-on experience to meet industry needs. CLS
students are also given the opportunity to acquire relevant experience through industrial,
research or clinical attachments and industry-based projects. As a result, CLS graduates are
well prepared for the working life and are highly sought after.
