Dear Parents, Pupils, Staff and Parishioners,
We were very proud of our KS1 children who represented SJF in the School
Games KS1 Gymnastics competition this week. Alfie, Rory, Ruby, Nevaeh,
Maisie, Evie, Eden, Orla and Ann-Marie had a wonderful time and were a
credit to our school. Well Done!
SJF – Family Fun Quiz Night
Everyone is invited to our SJF - Family Fun Quiz
Night on Friday 8 February 2019 @ 7.00pm in
the Parish Centre. £5.00 per team (max 6 per
team). There will be family games/quiz/bingo
and the bar will be open. Please pay and
give your team name to the school office. All
money raised will go to
School Funds
Active Travel: Over the next few months we will be
working with Sustrans to encourage Active Travel where
children walk, cycle or scoot to school.
The first event will be on Tuesday 29th January which will
be a Dr Bike session after school at 3.15pm. If anyone has a
bike they can bring it along for a check and we will even fix
minor problems. Helmets can also be brought and we will
check that they fit properly.

CHANGE OF DATE: 26th February 2019 - Caught in the Web
is a Creative Learning Workshop for KS2 designed to highlight
the importance of staying safe online. On Tuesday 26 February
we will be providing 4 optional creative one hour workshops.
They will address issues such as:
Personal data protection
Using social media appropriately
Netiquette
Measures to take to secure a safer and more enjoyable
online experience
If you would like your child to take part in this optional workshop there is a cost of £3 which should be
paid via ParentMail. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis until all places have been
filled. Anyone already paid for the previous date, will attend on the new date.
World Book Day Thursday 7th March
To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 7th March we will have a Book Character Day. This is
a non-uniform day where everyone is invited to school dressed as a book character. Please look
at the website worldbookday.com (Primary resources –dressing up ideas). There are some great
ideas for popular characters such as Gangster Granny, Willy Wonka, The BFG, The Gruffalo and
Harry Potter.) We’re looking forward to a fun day.
Each child will receive a £1 book token, which can be redeemed at various book sellers such as
Waterstones, WH Smith. Alternatively, they can be used for part payment for a book of their
choice. This year there are ten £1 books available from a range of authors including Peter Bently, Lauren Child,
Sibeal Pounder and Alex T Smith. Our book fair will be in school in March, where the children can also use their
voucher as part payment for a book.
We are also having a “Decorate a Potato as a Book Character” competition. The children are invited to be creative
and turn a potato into a book character! We hope to have a fun and creative collection! Potato entries will be
welcome after half term. Please make sure your child has their name and class on a label with the potato. Prizes will
be awarded at assemblies on 7nd March.

Coventry Transport Museum – Half-Term Activity:
This February half-term Coventry Music will be holding a two day workshop
on the 20th and 21st February at the Coventry Transport Museum for
budding young singers. The workshop is open to all young people in School
Year 5 and up and will be a chance to sing pop and rock style songs with a
live band. The 2 day event will end with a live performance at the Herbert
Art Gallery at 3:45pm on the 21st February.
There will also be a chance for those attending to perform at the Godiva
Festival 2019 in the summer.
The workshop is fantastic value at only £5 for both days and will be a lot of
fun as well as the chance to learn and perfect some new skills.
