About Backpacker Week
Backpacker week is three events alongside multiple networking functions and Famil
sessions showcasing local tourism. The event has been running for 22 years and is a great
opportunity to meet up with Industry peers and build relationships with distribution
partners and international buyers.
The ABiC conference will share insights from tourism experts and industry leaders, along-
side specialist workshops.
Following from the ABiC conference comes the ITE Independent Travel Exchange, a
unique networking event akin to speed dating. You can book slots to speak with the peo-
ple you really want to get in front of and share your business proposition with industry
buyers and partners.
The climax of backpacker week has to be the Golden Backpack Awards which are a true
celebration of the best in the industry. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a great nights
entertainment and perhaps even pick up an award of your own!

ITE is a unique opportunity to pitch your business or hear pitches from
Tour operators and vendors across Australia and New Zealand. It’s a infor-
mal networking event which provides you the opportunity to meet peers
or get your face in front of key industry representatives and influencer’s.
Last year we had a number of new tour operators presenting their offerings.
It’s a great place to meet face to face and to develop relationships or open
doors to further conversations.
Last year saw over 120 delegates take part in these one to one sessions over
two days.
If you want to make contact with key people in the industry then this is a
great place to start. The informal yet professional environment is the perfect
place to pitch your offerings.

With over 200 attendees the 77th floor was packed full of award hopefuls and industry leaders. This year we’re
going to make it a year to remember and extending on the success of last year. Expect the unexpected!
This years Gala dinner will again be hosted on the 77th Floor on the SkyPoint Observation Deck at the top of the
Q1 Tower, with unrivaled views across the Gold Coast. We will be setting the bar higher again this year making it a
