Friendship Festival Mozarteum
Choral and Instrumental ensembles from the United States, Canada, and Europe are invited to share your music,
culture, and friendship with other musicians in Mozart’s home town and his namesake Music Hall.
THE FESTIVAL PACKAGE INCLUDES:

• Possible workshop or master class with director of Vienna Boys Choir
• 52nd Anniversary Sound of Music Tour including Mirabell Gardens,
Pegasus Fountain, Leopoldskron Palace, Hellbrunn Palace,
Nonnberg Convent, St. Gilgen and Mondsee Church.

• Sightseeing: Guided tour of Vienna including State Opera House, St Stephen’s Church, Votive Church, Central
Cemetery. In Melk visit the famous Melk Abbey with guided tour. Salzburg sightseeing includes: Salzburg Walking
Tour, Mozart’s birth place and more. Munich guided tour also included.

Additional performance venues in Austria may include: St Stephen’s Cathedral, Vienna Boys Choir class, Votive Church,
Melk Abbey, Sound of Music dinner show, Mirabell Gardens and more .
EXTENDING YOUR PROGRAM
We invite you to combine the Friendship Festival Mozarteum with a 2 night extension to one of Europe’s most
beautiful cities – Prague. Your additional 2 nights in the Czech Republic will include a Prague City Tour and a
performance at St Nicholas Church or another of this great European Capitals major churches.
Sample 6 Day Itinerary
Day 1 Departure
Overnight flight. Meals on plane.
Day 2 Arrival Vienna (D)
You will be welcome by local tour manager at the airport.
Pending time of arrival afternoon visit:
PM Schönbrunn Palace - the fabulous baroque summer residence of the Hapsburg Emperors. Here
Marie-Antoinette lived as a young girl. The rococo interior is recreated as it was at its zenith. Here
the six year old Mozart played for the empress inside the Palace. Also, stroll through the beautiful
gardens filled with flowers and statues (imperial tour with audio guides).
EVE Enjoy group dinner in Vienna and overnight.
Day 3 Performance #1 Vienna (B,D)
AM In the morning enjoy a guided tour of Vienna and see the highlights of Vienna. Included in your tour
is a visit of the State Opera House.
PM Lunch on your own. Possible lunch performance at the St. Stephens Cathedral (max 30 minute
concert/ sacred repertoire - choirs) )or afternoon performance at the Votive Church, or St. Charles
Church or performance at local school such as the Krems Music School.
Venues for supplement: Odeon theater ( supplement below) or the Orangerie SChonbrunn (
supplement below)
EVE Group dinner and overnight Vienna.
OPTIONAL: Enjoy a possible workshop or master class from one of the directors or conductors from
the Vienna Boys Choir or Vienna Philharmonic – TBC
(supplement: Euro 2000 including venue rental)
Day 4 Vienna – Melk – Salzburg (B,D)
AM Morning departure, first stop and visit the Central Cemetery of Vienna where you will see the tombs
and memorials of famous composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, the Strauss family and Brahms.
PM Along the way make a stop at Melk Abbey for a guided visit. Possible informal singing choirs
only) at Melk Abbey (20 minute max - no concert attire – no promotion)
EVE Group dinner and overnight Salzburg.
Day 5 Salzburg (B,D)
AM Enjoy a walking tour of Salzburg including a visit of Mozart birth place.
(PENDING REPERTOIRE – Possible Mass /Church performance)
PM Afternoon enjoy the Sound of Music Tour – you will see the highlights of the movie:
Mirabell Gardens and Pegasus Fountain (dancing scene with Maria and the children)
Leopoldskron Palace (where the family lived in the film) Hellbrunn Palace (song scenes)
Nonnberg Convent (where Maria lived as a young novice) St. Gilgen/Wolfgangsee
Mondsee Church (wedding scene) Possible informal performance at the Mirabell Gardens
EVE Group dinner and overnight Salzburg
Optional: Sound of Music dinner show - possible for the choir to sing few pieces if suitable repertoire
Day 6 Festival performance Salzburg (B,D)
AM Late morning / early afternoon rehearsal.
PM Performance AND possible adjudication/clinic as part of the Passion for Music Friendship Festival –
listen to other music groups perform at the Mozarteum.
EVE Festive ceremony with dinner for all participants.
Day 7 Salzburg – Munich ( B,D)
AM Morning departure to Munich. Upon arrival enjoy a walking tour and see the treasures of the old
town like the Gothic Frauenkirche church, the Marienplatz square, the Neues Rathaus with its famous
carillon, the Residenz, former residence of the Bavarian kings and much more.
PM Remainder of the day free to spend in Munich.
EVE Enjoy typical Bavarian Farewell dinner and overnight Munich.
Day 8 Munich departure (B)
AM Morning transfer to the airport for flight back home.
