2021 TERM 2, Week 6 11/06/2021
FROM THE OVAL
From the Headmaster
Dear Parents, Caregivers and members of our community
Term Two has involved so many opportunities thus far and it has been a privilege to witness much of it in
classrooms, in sporting arenas and on the stage.
Last Friday’s performing arts concert celebrating 100 Years of Opera was stunning.
The many hours of practice that went into this evening was evident as our students showcased their joy
to perform and abilities to the highest levels.
Performing and being apart of a show like this allows our students to;
build their inner confidence
perform individually and as part of a collective group
express themselves
understand timing, organisation, fluency and expectations required in a team environment
Thank you to our staff and students for creating this magical evening of instrumental music, singing and
drama.
Yours sincerely Jason SpeedyAwards, Badges, Special Certificates & Announcements Cricket Presentations Ball 1 Maclaren Maber 69 (not out) off 62 Balls vs. Kings School (17.03.2021) Ball 2 Keaton Danby 60 (not out) off 33 Balls vs. Fairfield Intermediate (NZPost Cup) (22.03.2021) Ball 3 Renesh Paranawidana Bowling Hat-Trick vs. Te Totara Primary School (20.03.2021) NZ Chess Federation Badge Level Three Anurag Manda Captain of Chess Kaedan Govender Waikato Chess Tournament — Years 4 - 6 Junior Team were the 1st Team Overall — Receiving Gold Medals Kevin Chen, Anurag Manda, Cullen Li, Nurie Choi, Dylan Wang, Marcus Zhu, Leyu Jeng Individuals 2nd Overall — Cullen Li 3rd Overall — Anurag Manda 2nd Overall — Akain Kuruppuge 3rd Overall — Philine Van der Heijde Merit Certificates Abir Mahajan and Christopher D’Ath

Southwell during WW2
Barry Hall, Old Boy from 1939-36 remembers: “Air raid practise. This was an
experience which included all of Hamilton. They even had aircraft simulating
dive bombing. We would go to the trenches dug in the bush or to the trees
where we built huts by the western boundary”.EPro 8 Challenge Results
