2020 Gala Chairs
Dear Friends,
On behalf of Hospice Vaughan, we are excited to announce that Hospice Vaughan will once again be hosting its annual
Hospice Vaughan Gala. This year with the well being of our community top of mind we have decided to host the annual
gala, with a twist! On Friday, October 16th we hope you can participate in our gala in the comfort of your own home. We
are proud to introduce to you... Life is A Beautiful Ride - Gala to Go You will have the opportunity to purchase a gala
to go box which includes a gourmet dinner, raffle tickets for the chance to win a brand-new Vespa and also 50/50 tickets!
As an added bonus all Gala to Go guests you will enjoy a live streamed performance by Alan Frew, former lead singer of
the famous band Glass Tiger, all in the comfort of your own home!
Hospice Vaughan serves as a hospice palliative care hub, filling a significant health gap in our community. All
proceeds from Life is A Beautiful Ride - Gala to Go will fund the majority of our programs and services, which are
offered to the community free of charge. Hospice Vaughan’s mission is to help people with life-limiting illnesses live fully
in comfort and with dignity until they die, while providing support for families, friends, and caregivers. Community
programs include children’s grief support, caregiver support, adult bereavement programs, adult day program, in-home
hospice care, psycho-social and spiritual counselling, health and wellness services and more.
2020 is set to be a special year for Hospice Vaughan as we prepare to open the doors to our new 10-bed residential
facility - The Hospice Vaughan Mario & Nick Cortellucci Hospice Palliative Care Centre of Excellence. The facility will be
the first of its kind in Vaughan and will allow Hospice Vaughan to expand services, reach, and support research,
education and knowledge translation of palliative care best practices.
In honour of this important event we will recognize the Cortellucci family for the 2020 Community Leadership Award, for
their philanthropy and ambassadorship with Hospice Vaughan. The Cortellucci family is mindful of the important work
that Hospice Vaughan provides to our community, and their community leadership and selfless giving makes our
community stronger.
Life is A Beautiful Ride - Gala to Go will be an evening of celebration and compassion. The enclosed material will
provide further details regarding sponsorship opportunities. We appreciate your support on any level and look forward to

2020 Community Leadership Award
THE CORTELLUCCI FAMILY
The journey of the Cortellucci family began in a small
farming community in Abruzzo, Italy. Pietro Cortellucci
and Maria Di Pietro were blessed with five children:
Nicola, Mario, Joe, Vilma, and Gabriele. In the early 60’s
the family emigrated to Canada. Their determination,
vision and work ethic has culminated in numerous
successful businesses. Companies under the family
umbrella include: Four Valleys Excavating and Grading,
MCF Forming, Zancor Homes, Cortel Group, Pristine
Homes, Brookvalley Developments.
The Cortellucci Family
The Cortellucci’s came to this great country with hopes and dreams of having access to its high quality of living
and most importantly to the opportunities it could provide. Years later they are now blessed to be a part of building
these same services and opportunities in hopes of providing a higher quality of living for others.
The Cortellucci family realizes how important the work of Hospice Vaughan is to our community. They are
immensely proud to support and enable Hospice Vaughan to deliver such wonderful care, love and compassion to
those who need it most. The new state-of-the-art facility will have a deep and meaningful impact on the Vaughan
community and the Cortellucci family hopes their support will inspire others in supporting Hospice Vaughan now
and in the future.
Special Live Streamed Performance By
Alan Frew - Formerly of Glass Tiger
Alan Frew is a multi-platinum selling songwriter, public speaker and author. His work with Glass
Tiger has garnered him five Juno Awards, a Grammy nomination and five Canadian Classic Awards
in recognition of songs that have been played in excess of 100,000 times on Canadian Radio.
Frew has toured with artists including Rod Stewart, Tina Turner and Fleetwood Mac, and performed
for the Canadian Armed Forces and their allies in Bosnia, Israel, Egypt and Afghanistan. Hospice
Vaughan is thrilled to welcome Alan Frew to Life is A Beautiful Ride - Gala to Go

Everything will come together to make your gala at home, a special one! You will pick up your Gala to Go Box on Friday, October 16 at Riviera Event Space. Closer to the event you will be e-mailed your event E-ticket which will give you further pick up instructions.
