Final Golf Joint Advisory Committee Meeting Notes Wednesday, August 11th, 2021 4:00 pmBVCC and Zoom Attendees: Attendees: Alex Sanford, Darryl Muldoon, Gary Mertz, Jason Loyd, Jeff Hendren, Keith Ihms, Mark Diehl, David DeGraf, Ruth Hatcher, Sheila Heward, Susan Nuttall, Tammie Loyd, Tom Judson, Jan Simms, Jan Hagan, Jerre Barron Votes & Important Topics ○ VOTE Capital Projects Recommendations: Gary Mertz made a motion to propose to accept the prior listed recommendations, submitted from JasonLoyd (see below 2022 project attachment under New Business). Jeff Hendren seconded motion. The motion passed unanimously. ○ ○ The next meeting is the Golf JAC Regular Meeting – Wednesday, September 8th at 4:00 pm. Call to Order – Jason Loyd called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm Course reports - see meeting packet Staff Reports: ○ Maintenance – Keith Introduced two new Superintendents. Reed Holly Country Club Superintendent and Shane Oneil Kingswood/Berksdale Superintendent.All greens are holding up well. Country Club irrigation repairs are currently being addressed removing debris and gravels from irrigation heads. There are 1024 sprinklerheads at the Country Club and between 5000-6000 over the village. A new sprinkler head cost $175.00 a piece! Discuss possible sprigging of other courses, nine holes at a time. ■ Sod Project Updates: • Sod at Country Club and Highlands is doing well. Still need additional Sod at Kingswood and final load to Highlands for Junior AJGAtournament. ■ Scottsdale Sprigging and Closing • Scottdale greens aerated. Sprigging is doing great. Green shoots are growing and taking up well with the continuous watering. ● Fixing winter kill at Highlands • Hydroseeding not doing as well. Possibly the pre-emergent spray restricted the growth. Will monitor situation and discuss possiblesolutions. ● 2021 Capital Project BVCC #5 Update • We are securing the approaches and repairing the undermined areas on the sides of the bridge. Bid has been received for the work, andpossible start date of September. ● Golf Operations – Darryl: ○ Fittings for Callaway and Titleist are full to capacity. ○ Possibly of placing cards for rules & etiquette, on place card area above front windshield. Make players more aware of proper responsibilities. ○ Rounds: July rounds ended at 21,296, up by 1,159 over 2020. Year to date rounds ended at 94,700 Member rounds ended at 68,861, up 563 from last year. Guest rounds were 25,839, up 4,130 over 2020. Year to date Range buckets ended at Tournaments: Alex ■ Upcoming tournaments include Parent Child Championship, Men’s and Senior Men’s Club Championship, and Alzheimer’s GolfClassic. ○ Jr. Golf ■ The AJGA will host a tournament in September at Highlands. ■ Gary Mertz is still looking for housing for officials, for the tournament. ■ Ruth Hatcher needs one more full-time position for the tournament. ■ Possible Pro-Am on Friday.
