OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

The  Peak District National Park is renowned for

to get an adrenalin rush or just quietly amble
along taking in the sights.

The Peak District has some of the most
challenging and popular rock climbing routes in
Europe including the internationally important
Stanage Edge, near Sheffield. Many world-class
climbers live in and around the area, sharpening
their skills on its challenging cliffs, edges and
boulders.

The Peak District is home to the highest natural
cavern in the UK - Titan Cave, Castleton (464ft,
141.5m), discovered by local pot-holers in 2000.
For those less adventurous there magnificent
show caves in Castleton that can be managed by
most fitness levels including four legged friends.

The Park is a maze of different walks and
bridleways for all abilities many of which are
National Trust owned. But if you want to go a bit
quicker fell running is a popular sport here.

There is a gliding club based at Great Hucklow
should you wish to get even higher up than the
moors allow.

Coarse fishing is available on Ladybower
reservoir but bear in mind that the river in
Grindleford is private fishing only.

Do come prepared whatever your chosen
activity. The weather can come in very quickly
and thanks go out to Edale Mountain Rescue who
do a sterling job keeping us all safe.
