with cancer. The proceeds of the race will benefit Make a Wish and Children’s
Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, two organizations that helped Jake in his bat-
tle. Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween
costumes and participate in the 5K. Registration on the day of the race opens at
8:30am, and the actual race will begin at 10am. Winners will be awarded for be-

college. Even now, he plays in the notorious before-school basketball games
the teachers have, which he calls “one step below the NBA.”
Before getting hired at North Hills, he worked at Sunrise School
in Monroeville. Very different from our school, the students
ranged in age from 5 to 21 years old. He taught math and
learning support and ran all the student events such as dances
or parades. The school was very involved in the communi-
ty, specializing in internships and partnerships. Mr. King also
coached the basketball team there, which he said was a lot of
fun.
Outside of teaching, Mr. King enjoys spending time
with his dog, Weego, and of course his Betta Fish, Stephen
King. He also loves traveling, as he’s been throughout Eu-
rope, Asia, North America, and Central America. An extra
fun fact about Mr. King is that his dad is actually opening a
restaurant in Bellevue called Revival on Lincoln. Go to www.
revivalonlincoln.com and make a visit!
When we asked Mr. King about his experience so far
at North Hills, he said, “The kids are great, the staff is great,
the administration is great.” Basically, he thinks it’s pretty
great! Mr. King is already the Senior Class Sponsor Assistant
with Ms. Abbott, but he’s eager to become more involved in
the school’s activities and organizations, especially with the
sports teams. Overall, Mr. King is a fantastic addition to our
staff at North Hills. Next time you see him in the hallway, give
him a friendly wave, or even ask to meet Stephen King.
