BROOKES STUDENTS’ UNION 13
We hope it will provide you with an overview
of student life at Oxford Brookes University,
and of the courses we offer.
Oxford Brookes is one of the leading modern universities
in the UK. We have a global reputation for outstanding
teaching across our departments: the QS 2017 World
University Rankings by subject found us to be ‘ranked
amongst the world’s top universities in 16 of 46 subjects’.
Our teaching is backed up by strong links with industries
and professions regionally, nationally and internationally.
We strive to ensure that your experience at Oxford
Brookes is of the highest possible standard. The latest
National Student Survey continues to place us among
the top institutions for overall satisfaction, and we offer
a wide range of specialist support to our students,
both academic and personal. We have invested in our
campuses to provide many high quality new learning
spaces, including the multi award-winning John Henry
Brookes Building, and we will continue to invest.
An international outlook has always been important to
us and the Times Higher Education 2016 praises Oxford
Brookes as ‘one of the world’s top universities for its
international outlook’. 94% of our research was judged to
be internationally recognised in the latest assessment of
research excellence. Read on to find out why more than
3,500 students from over 150 countries chose to make
Oxford Brookes their home. We hope you decide to join
them.

OXFORD:
A GREAT PLACE TO BE A STUDENT
“During summer, I like to read my book on
the lawn of the Oxford University Botanic
Garden and in the meadows. This summer,
I would love to go outside Oxford, to the
Cotswolds, cycling or hiking in the hills.”
“I just love everything in Oxford – the culture, the Song Pei Fen, Malaysia
scenery and sight-seeing, because Oxford defines
British culture to me. From a small heritage pub to a
massive cathedral, you just never get bored in Oxford.
You can go punting with your friends and everything is
so accessible.”
Bernard Chu, Hong Kong
“Oxford is a beautiful
city with exquisite
buildings. There are
many places to go
sightseeing and the
museum is packed with
interesting artefacts
and information about “It’s beautiful. There are so many historic buildings
them.” and I’m a history nerd so I love walking down by the
Sasha Coutinho, Zimbabwe city centre area and going to see Christ Church and the
Bodleian, of course.”
