VDCC COVID-19 PLAN
                                         RETURN TO PLAY
DOES VDCC HAVE A RETURN TO PLAY COVID-19 PLAN?
At all times the health and safety of our members, participants, coaches, officials, volunteers, families and
broader community is the number one priority. As such VDCC is currently complying to the approved Industry
COVID Safe Plan for Field Sports. As the situation is ever changing with managing COVID19, plans and
requirements are constantly updated, in line with recommendations from the Queensland Chief Health
Officer.

WHAT WILL BE DIFFERENT THIS SEASON?

• Plenty of signage and directions to follow – please adhere to any directions given by coaches/managers
• Checking in /out for contact tracing, for each training session and game via QR Code on mobile devices
    (contact free)
• No sharing of drink bottles, towels or other personal items
• Hand hygiene – sanitise prior, during and after games/training
• All equipment including balls, benches, chairs must be wiped down prior to commencing, and at the
    completion of every session/game
• Canteen – social distancing for lining up and cashless payments preferred.
• Celebrating success – sorry no HI-5’s or fist bumps, let’s get creative this season!
• Spectators and supporters – we love having you at games – maintain 1.5m space between family groups!

CAN WE SHARE EQUIPMENT?

• It is required that all players will need to provide their own helmet, batting gloves and full inner gloves.
• Bats can be shared if both players are wearing gloves.

COVID OVERLOAD?
We understand that there is a lot of information out there and it can be confusing. We will need your help
to maintain compliance and stop the spread.

As the season gets closer, more detailed information for our cricket community around game day procedures,
how to guides and checklists, will be communicated. We are looking to provide teams with a “COVID pack”
for kit bags (sanitiser, wipes, spray sanitiser, tissues, bags for disposal) which will also assist with compliance
to the plan.

DO WE HAVE A COVID SAFETY OFFICER FOR THE CLUB?
Industry COVID Safe Plan for Field Sports outlines the requirement to appoint a COVID Safety Officer. The
VDCC Executive appointed Adele Wood to fulfil this role on the club’s behalf. Adele can be contacted via:
a.wood@valleycricket.org.au

JUNIOR CRICKET SEASON 2020-21 INFORMATION GUIDE - Valley ...
REGISTRATION CHECKLIST - PLEASE READ
The club offers many different programs and competitions.

If you’re unsure what program or competition would suit your child, follow the
checklist below.

Please select carefully when registering online as fees may apply if any changes
are required. (Check refund policy for details)

1. Check your child’s age group to confirm which program or competition is
   suitable for your child.

2. Before registering online, check you have selected the correct program or
competition for your child from the options below.
      • Junior Blasters Friday Program
      • Master Blasters Wednesday Program
      • Master Blasters Friday Program
      • Saturday Competition
o U10 and Above (Full Season 1st Child)
o U10 and Above (Half Season 1st Child)
o U10+ (Full Season Subsequent Child)
o U10+ (Half Season Subsequent Child)

3. The club offers discounted fees for some programs where families are
registering more than one child. When registering more than one child, the
‘First child’ does not mean the eldest child in your family. The First child is
registered at the full season fee or higher fee. All other children are registered
under “subsequent child” whether they play full or half (pre-xmas) season.
(If you are uncertain on how to register for more than one child, please
contact the Junior Registrar at junior.registrar@valleycricket.org.au).

IS YOUR CHILD PLAYING OUTSIDE THEIR AGE GROUP?
PLAYING UP
Players wishing to play up one age group are free to do so in the Master Blasters Friday night and Saturday
Competitions, with no prior approval required. Any player wishing to play up two or more age groups from U8
to Open Division must be assessed and approved by Clinton Kempnich, JMC Chairman. Please email Clinton to
organise an assessment time at c.kempnich@valleycricket.org.au.

PLAYING DOWN
BNJCA rules do not allow players in U10 to Open age groups to play down without advanced approval from
Clinton Kempnich, JMC Chairman. Please complete and email your Playing Down Form to Clinton at
c.kempnich@valleycricket.org.au. Please note that no more than 2 players per team are allowed to Play
Down. This ruling is in place:
 • to minimise disputes about the composition of some teams in terms of age gap
 • to ensure the safety of all players is maintained; and
 • in the interests of fairness and equity

Half season (pre-xmas) competition is offered to children who are either starting at a private school in Term 1

We do not recommend half and full season players to play in the same team unless this is necessary to make

$5 INSURANCE FEE
Cricket Australia (CA) have introduced a one-off Insurance fee across all cricket clubs. All players who
register and sign up for the Saturday Competition are now required to pay a $5 Annual Insurance fee.
For Valley members, this $5 insurance fee will be included in your junior registration. When you register
for any Junior or Master Blasters program, insurance is included in your registration fee.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE $5 INSURANCE
When registering your child online for junior club cricket, please make sure you use your child’s
MyCricket ID number. The insurance fee will cover your child if they choose to play Saturday cricket,
winter cricket using the MyCricket online registration. You only pay the insurance fee once per year, so
to avoid paying the fee again you must use your child’s MyCricket ID number. To find your Cricket ID
number, go to Advanced Search, type in your child’s full name and click search.

VOLUNTEER REFUND LEVY
Please give a little of your time to help the club.
Our club relies on the generous support of our volunteers. The volunteer levy was introduced to
encourage parents to take a more active role in the club. The club is always looking for volunteer coaches
and managers to assist their team. In recognition of their assistance, a refund volunteer levy of $50 (full
season) and $35 (half season) is offered to parents who coach or manage their child’s team for Master
Blaster Friday and Saturday Competition ONLY. The levy is reduced if coaches or managers share the
role. The levy is refunded at the end of the season.

REFUND POLICY
CHANGE FROM FULL TO HALF SEASON
If a player registers and pays for a full season and then elects to play only half a season, a refund of half
season amount paid minus an administration charge of $10 will be levied.

WITHDRAW BEFORE COMPETITION COMMENCES
If a player registers and pays and subsequently seeks to withdraw that registration prior to the
commencement of the season, a refund of the amount paid minus an administration charge of $20 will
be levied.

WITHDRAW AFTER COMPETITION COMMENCES
INJURY
If a player registers and pays and subsequently seeks to withdraw that registration after the season has
commenced due to injury, a refund will be issued for the remaining missed games in the season at the
rate of $20 per missed day of scheduled play.

CHANGE OF MIND
No refund will be given if a player registers and the season has commenced and the player is not injured,
(that is, NO REFUNDS are issued in circumstances where a player is able to play but simply no longer
wishes to play).

WET WEATHER
Any playing days missed due to wet weather/ground conditions will not be refunded.

PLAYER ALLOCATION TO TEAMS
MASTER BLASTER FRIDAY AND SATURDAY COMPETITION ONLY
Our Age Coordinators are assigned an Age Group. When registrations close, they will commence allocating
players to teams. The Age Coordinator will try to accommodate all requests, however, there may be
circumstances where this might not be possible.

How to assist the Age Coordinator with allocating your child to a team:
 • Families can organise their own team by completing and emailing the Team Nomination Form to
     their Age Coordinator.
 • When completing the online registration form, you may
o Indicate if you wish your child to be placed in the same team as the previous season.
o List friends your child would like to play with in a team.
o List the school which your child attends so he/she may be placed in the same team
 • Make sure your child is in the correct age group when requesting to play with friends.
We do not recommend half and full season players to play in the same team unless this is necessary to
make up team numbers.
Your Age Coordinator will advise which team your child will be in and provide the team’s coach and manager
details to you by late September 2020.
If you have any questions regarding registrations, team allocation or other information, please contact your
Age Coordinator from the Junior Management Contact List.
