Nature Camp. I understand that he/she is subject to the Park and Nature Center rules of conduct. I hereby agree to discuss
the following behavior policy with my child, and agree to its contents.
BEHAVIOR POLICY:
Inappropriate behavior will not be accepted or tolerated from any camper at Piney Run Summer Nature Camp. Inappropriate
behavior includes but is not limited to foul language, discussing subject matter of a mature nature, hurting or teasing other
campers, abusing or teasing the animals, bad attitude, name calling, disrespecting a counselor/director/volunteer, not
cooperating, not listening or following directions, wandering away from the group, fighting, spitting on camp property,
destroying camp equipment, littering on camp property, stealing, and threatening another child. Below is our offense policy:
On the first offense of any camper displaying any inappropriate behavior, camper will receive a warning from the
counselor.
On the second offense, the child will be given a time-out and counselor will discuss with the child what he/she did wrong
and allow them to reflect on the situation. The time a child spends in time-out will depend largely upon child’s age and
circumstances for which the time-out was given.
On the third offense or if the child refuses to cooperate in time-out with the counselor, the child will be sent to the camp
station and placed in time-out with the Camp Director. The incident will be recorded and must be signed by a parent.
On the fourth offense, the child’s parents will be called to pick up child from camp. At that time it will be determined,
based on the situation, if the child will be allowed to return to camp. If camper is dismissed from camp, no refund will be
given.
For Groups 4, 5 and 6, the Camp reserves the right not to allow any camper to stay late or campout on Friday night for
behavior issues.
Any conduct which can be construed of a sexual or sexually harassing nature will not be tolerated and will result in immediate
dismissal from camp. Drugs, alcohol or weapons of any kind will result in an immediate dismissal from camp and local police
will be contacted.
No electronic devices (cell phones, iPods, etc.) are allowed at camp by campers. If a camper is found to have any of these
items: on 1st offense the item will be confiscated and Camp Director or Park Superintendent will hold the item until the end
of the day and it will be returned directly to the parent; a 2nd offense will result in camper being dismissed from camp
without a refund. Piney Run Park is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
CANOEING / KAYAKING:
I understand that canoeing and kayaking will be among the activities in which my child will participate. Camp rules require
that a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) be worn at all times while on the water (campers who have not completed first grade
do not participate in canoeing or kayaking programs).
WAIVER OF LIABILITY:
By my signature below, I acknowledge that there are inherent risks and dangers associated with recreation programs, that
Carroll County Department of Recreation & Parks and Piney Run Park and Nature Center does not provide any registrant
medical or hospitalization insurance whatsoever, and therefore, I hold Carroll County Commissioners and their agents
harmless from all claims of injury, damage, or loss which may result in my child(ren)’s participation in this program.
AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF PHOTOGRAPHIC LIKENESS:
