            The Road Ahead
            Technology is transforming whole industries and the world
            at large for the better. Communications service providers are
            enablers of emerging technologies for other industries, but
            they must first become skilled in these technologies themselves.
            Technology leadership in the five trend areas will open new
            opportunities for both CSPs and the businesses and customers
            they serve.

            Prioritizing technology innovation in response to a rapidly
            changing world has never been more important. Now is the
            time to rethink offerings, apply new technologies and expand
            into digital and IT services. CSPs that fail to do so will struggle
            to keep up with competition and the current pace of change.
            However, CSPs that embrace technology leadership will have
            the opportunity to shape the future of communications and
            other industries, reimagine their own value chains, and build
            new realities using radically different models.
