Sing to the Lord a New Song
Sing to the Lord a new song!
Lift up your voice!
Rejoice and sing to the Lord!
With trumpet and sound of the horn,
With harp and voice of song,
We shout with joy unto the Lord
For God has done great things!
Sing to the Lord a new song!
Lift up your voice!
Rejoice and sing to the Lord!
Let the hills ring out with joy,
Let the hills ring out!
Sing to the Lord a new song!
Lift up your voice!
Rejoice and sing to the Lord!
- Timothy Denton (b. 1976)The Call to Worship The Rev. Valarie P. James
Let our hearts be open to the Lord today.
Let our spirits be ready to feel God’s power and love.
Let go of all the things that bind you in pain and sorrow.
Help us to place our trust in God.
Come, let us praise the God of love.
Let us bring our hearts to God.
Let us stand and sing.
+The Hymn TERRA BEATA
This Is My Father’s World+The Opening Prayer Rev. James
Let us pray:
Lord, we come into your presence this morning grateful for the opportunity
to worship you in spirit and in truth. Our souls need to be fed.
Open our ears, our eyes, and our hearts this day to hear your words of hope.
We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
The congregation may be seated.
Act of Praise Melody Fish, soloist
The Love of Christ
Incomparable kindness to less than the least,
To the broken and battered and weak.
To all who are hungry there comes a call
To be filled with the fullness of God.
It’s beyond all you can see, farther than you believe.
It’s a mystery. My prayer for you is that you will know
How wide, how long, and how high, how deep is the love
How deep is the love of Christ.
The width of two arms outstretched on a tree,
The length of the road to Calvary.
The height of the crown on a cruel cross,
The depth of the pain is the cost.
All for you, all for me, all for love did he bleed.
All to set us free. My prayer for you is that you will know
How wide, how long, and how high, how deep is the love
How deep is the love of Christ.
Michael W. Smith (b. 1957)
The Prayer of Confession Rev. Bryan
Merciful God, we have not loved you with all our being. In your kindness, you
formed the world as one glorious, diverse, many-colored place; in our
stubbornness and sinful pride, we have distorted your intention for humanity
and for all creation. As you church, we have often perpetuated the divisions
Christ came to destroy. In your grace, forgive us and free us from the grip of
sin. Help us to worship and serve you joyfully for the sake of the salvation of
the entire world.
A time of silence is observed for personal confession.
And all God’s people say:
Amen.
The Kyrie is sung first by the soloist; the congregation is then invited to sing:
Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison;
Lord have mercy upon us.
Note: ‘Kyrie, eleison; Christ eleison’ is Greek for ‘Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy’The pastor offers these words of assurance:
All you who seek God, and who have set your hope on Jesus Christ,
hear the good news:
We have received forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of God’s grace.
As forgiven and beloved children of God, let us set our hope on Christ,
and live for the praise of his glory.
Amen.

After each petition, the pastor will conclude: Lord, in your mercy,
and all may respond: Hear our prayer.
Together, let us pray for:
the people of this congregation…
those who suffer and those in trouble…
the concerns of this local community…
the world, its peoples, and its leaders…
the church universal—its leaders, its members, and its mission…
the communion of saints…
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.

Christ Has Broken Down the Wall
Christ has broken down the wall
Christ has broken down the wall
Let us join our hearts as one,
Christ has broken down the wall.
We’re accepted as we are.
We’re accepted as we are.
Through God’s love all is reconciled.
We’re accepted as we are.
Cast aside your doubts and fears.
Cast aside your doubts and fears.
Peace and love freely offered here.
Cast aside your doubts and fears.
We will tear down the walls.
We will tear down every wall.
Christ has called us one and all.
Christ has broken down the wall.
Christ has broken down the wall.
