Who Redeems Our Time!
Prelude Fugue in E Flat Major ST. ANNE J. S. Bach
Dennis Bergin, organ
   O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come,
   Our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home!

Welcome
Reverend Dr. Russell St. John, Lead Pastor

We Prepare Our Hearts for Worship All People That On Earth Do Dwell
Charis Baker, flute; Holly Henske, clarinet; Laura Quinn, cello; Tom Orear, euphonium;
Carrie Smith, piano

   All people that on earth do dwell,
   Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
   Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell;
   Come ye before Him and rejoice.

   O enter then His gates with praise;
   Approach with joy His courts unto;
   Praise, laud, and bless His Name always,
   For it is seemly so to do.

   For why? the Lord our God is good;
   His mercy is forever sure;
   His truth at all times firmly stood,
   And shall from age to age endure.

                                                                                            2

David Barnes, Student Ministry Director
    Pastor: I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in
               my mouth.
    People: He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see
               and fear; and put their trust in the Lord.
    Pastor: My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.
    People: I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will
               make known your faithfulness to all generations.
    Pastor: With my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord: I will praise him in the
               midst of the throng.
    All: My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless his holy
               name forever and ever.

We Prepare for God's Word! This Is the Day the Lord Has Made
Kyrstan Brantley, Tonya Zanders, Bob Nagy, Brian Roby

      Chorus: This is the day that the Lord has made;
      And I will be exceeding glad!
      This is the day the Lord has made,
      And I will be exceeding glad!

      This is the day that the Lord has made
      And I will sing my Maker’s praise!
      This is the day the Lord has made;
      I will rejoice and give God praise!

      Who is like unto our God the Lord, strong and mighty?
      Who is like unto our God who reigns above in glorious splendor?

      You are the Rose of Sharon, the Lover of my soul.
      You are my heart’s desire;
      My soul implores me to exalt your Holy name.
      Your name is music unto my ear;
      And I must sing of the great love you’ve shown to me
      Because my heart will not be still. (Chorus)

      This is the day the Lord has made, I will be glad!

      Sermon Title Making the Best of It
   18
     After this, Paul stayed many days longer and then took leave of the brothers and set sail
   for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had cut his hair, for he was
   under a vow. 19 And they came to Ephesus, and he left them there, but he himself went
   into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. 20 When they asked him to stay for a
   longer period, he declined. 21 But on taking leave of them he said, “I will return to you if
   God wills,” and he set sail from Ephesus.

   22
     When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and then
   went down to Antioch. 23 After spending some time there, he departed and went from
   one place to the next through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the
   disciples.

God Invites Us to His Table 1 Corinthians 11:23-29
Reverend Dr. Russell St. John
   I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night
   when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said,
   “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also
   he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this,
   as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and
   drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Whoever, therefore, eats
   the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning
   the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the
   bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body
   eats and drinks judgment on himself.

   Bread Amidst Us Our Beloved Stands

   Amidst us our Beloved stands,
   And bids us view his pierced hands;
   Points to the wounded feet and side,
   Blest emblems of the Crucified.

   What food luxurious loads the board,
   When at his table sits the Lord!
   The wine how rich, the bread how sweet,
   When Jesus deigns the guests to meet!

   If now, with eyes defiled and dim,
   We see the signs, but see not him;
   O may his love the scales displace,
   And bid us see him face to face!

   O glorious bridegroom of our hearts,
   Your present smile a heav’n imparts!
   O lift the veil, if veil there be,
   Let every saint your glory see!

                                                                                           10

Cup At the Lamb’s High Feast We Sing

     At the Lamb’s high feast we sing
     Praise to our victorious King,
     Who has washed us in the tide
     Flowing from his pierced side;
     Praise we him whose love divine
     Gives his sacred blood for wine,
     Gives his body for the feast,
     Christ the victim, Christ the priest.

     Where the paschal blood is poured,
     Death’s dark angel sheathes his sword;
     Israel’s hosts triumphant go
     Through the wave that drowns the foe.
     Praise we Christ, whose blood was shed,
     Paschal victim, paschal bread;
     With sincerity and love
     Eat we manna from above.

     Mighty victim from the sky,
     Pow’rs of hell beneath thee lie;
     Death is conquered in the fight,
     Thou hast brought us life and light:
     Hymns of glory and of praise,
     Risen Lord, to thee we raise;
     Holy Father, praise to thee,
     With the Spirit, ever be.
