                                 PRESIDENT’S CORNER

Thank you everyone for a successful art & wine. It was exciting to see such a great
turn out. Thankfully there was no rain or heavy winds during the event. We will have
our total amount raised from the event soon and report back to the members.

Save the date: Oct 26 for Zonta’s international Centennial celebration along with the
Porterville Zonta Club’s 71st year. Our International president elect Sharon
Langenbeck with be our guest speaker!

                                   February Program Meeting
                          Kristi Burkhart, Executive Director of the Pregnancy Care Center in
                          Fresno, offered us a special presentation on her agency’s mission
                          and her personal journey that led her to this time in her life.

                          The Pregnancy Care Center is a faith-based, life-affirming,
                          independent, locally organized and funded, non-profit service
                          organization that has been serving women, families, and babies in
                          the Central Valley since 1984.

                          The mission of Pregnancy Care Center is to offer help and hope to
                          women facing unplanned pregnancies, through education,
                          compassionate counsel and resources. Approximately 2500-3000
                          families are served each year, at no cost to the individuals.

                          Kristi highlighted how our family of origin teaches us how we love
                          and how to love others. Her personal journey is amazing and one
                          that she shared honestly with our members. What a marvelous
                          journey that is!

                          Thanks to Teresa Hardt, cousin to Kristi, for organizing our
                          February speaker, and thanks to Valerie for the special cookies!

A Huge Thank You to Nuckols Family, Larisa Gibson & Jenna Marquez, co-chairs and all
the Zonta members who worked for months and that evening to make this a successful
event!

In recognition of International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Day, and keeping with our District theme of
Honoring the Past – It is only befitting that we take time to reflect on, honor and recognize our very first Zonta
International President, Mary Jenkins. Mary was very much involved in furthering women professionals during
the First World War. She was the first President of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, which was founded in 1919 and
is one of the original first 5 founding Zonta Clubs.

Mary was instrumental in the development of the Zonta emblem, the first governing policies and the
establishment of what would become one of the most significant worldwide organizations for Women, Zonta
International. Mary Jenkins, this rose is in honor of your legacy!

issued a $35.36 donation from the AmazonSmile Foundation as a result of AmazonSmile program activity
between October 1 and December 31, 2018. The donation was deposited to your organization's bank account
on or before February 15, 2019. It may take several days for the donation to appear in the account.
