Message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful first half term it has been. We have welcomed many new children to our school
although it feels now like they have always been with us. Well done to the Reception children who have
made it successfully through their first half term. Today has been Friendship Day and the children looked
brilliant in their team colours. There were many friendship bracelets made and exchanged.
Mantle of the Expert Award – Training School
I am so proud of the achievements of the staff and children at
the school. We have been awarded the QM Award as a
Training School for Mantle of the Expert practice. This
creative approach to some of our curriculum teaching has
seen children in our school grow in confidence as well as
develop language. We are really pleased to receive the
quality mark in recognition of the training that has taken
place over the last two years.
The Braintree Museum
Yesterday Year 2 set off to the Braintree Museum dressed as Victorian children (and they looked
fabulous). The children took part in a Victorian Class, they visited the gallery which was full of artefacts
and some experienced plaiting straw to make their own rope. These are the responses from some of our
Year 2:
“I liked seeing the Dodo! One of my favourite parts was going on the coach.”
Oakley
“I liked going to the classroom because I wanted to see how it was”
Joshua
“I liked how the teacher was acting like a Victorian Teacher”
Pranshi
“I liked the Victorian classroom because I liked drawing on black board”Holly
“The best part was the classroom because I got to use a metal stick on the blackboard”
Maria
The Book People - The Big Book Boost
If you or your family or friends shop online at The Book People, please use the Big Book Boost which will
enable the school to receive donations from The Book People.
Big Book Boost is The Book People’s brand new fundraising scheme. Every time you place an order with
them over £10, they will donate £1 to a school of your choice for the school to spend on books!
You can add more than one school to your account. When your order qualifies for Big Book Boost, you
will be asked to pick one school to give your boost to.
Further information on the scheme can be found using the link below:

Competition Time – Harvest
Well done to Abigail in Badger Class who was our winner of last week’s harvest competition. I did report
that Abigail found 51 answers – in fact it was an amazing 101 words!
Timestable Rockstars – A Message from Mrs Hanson
We are pleased to announce the relaunch of Times Table Rock Stars for Year 1 and 2. This is a great
opportunity for them to practise their times tables online in a fun and engaging way. Each week the
class with the most children logging on will earn a class certificate in Celebration Assembly. Your child
will have received their log in in their reading diary this week. Please let your class teacher know if there
are any problems with accessing this. Thank you.
Fancy Dress Sponsored Walk
Thank you for all the sponsored walk donations that have been paid to the school. We have raised….
£ 2272.31
and £83 for the dress down day. This money will be put towards replacing our playground canopy.
