Hello, my name is Michael Thornton. I am a recent Emergency Management graduate at Rose State
College, with a certificate in Emergency Planning & Preparedness. My website, MesoSafety.com,
discusses ways one can mitigate threats to their life and home before, during, and after a disaster.
I have been presenting to the public on this topic for over four years and work alongside NOAA’s
Weather-Ready Nation to create more disaster-resilient communities. I have reached out to several
Oklahoma politicians about the need for storm shelters in schools and other weather safety needs. As
of January 2021, I began working with stakeholders and the residents of Tipton, OK, to create a better
disaster-resilient community. I am very dedicated, not just to disaster preparedness, but also to any
kind of job I take on. You will realize that I am very motivated to get the job done, while also staying
positive about every situation I encounter. Let’s work together and create a long-lasting employment
relationship!

"Michael has an innate gift at being able to discern crucial details through the background noise. Often
in class, but especially in his writings, he provides insight and unique perspectives of the topic at hand.
I believe Michael will excel at anything to which he applies himself. He has made strong advancements
in his knowledge and experience base during the relatively short time he has been involved in the
Emergency Management community, I highly recommend him for any appropriate position in the
EM field. Anything he might lack in knowledge he will make up for with initiative. In May 2021 he
will complete the 27 semester hour requirement for the Emergency Management Degree Program,
Certificate in Emergency Preparedness and Planning." - Jackie Wright

Work Experience

Writer
Tipton Tribune - Tipton, OK

extremely well received by the community and as a result, have allowed me to educate more residents

Consultant
MesoSafety - Tipton, OK
March 2020 to Present
As a consultant for MesoSafety, my job is to educate and create preparedness plans for companies before
severe weather strikes. This helps with mitigating the loss of life as well as mitigating damage done to
buildings during a disaster as they will have a plan in place and know how to act during an event because
of that plan. I have worked with local government officials to create better disaster plans, and have sent
letters to Governor Stitt on the importance of storm shelters in schools. I also write preparedness blogs
monthly on MesoSafety.com so that the general public can learn ways to mitigate their own life as well.
As of January 2021, I began working with stakeholders and the residents of Tipton, OK, to create a better
disaster-resilient community. In February of 2021, I began writing articles for the Tipton Tribune that
focused on educating residents on how severe weather works and ways they can mitigate damage to
their homes.
