Workshop
Many people learn to play an instrument at music
schools, with a private tutor or are self-taught. Only few
have the opportunity to play in an ensemble or to
accompany dance music, even though they would be
interested in doing just that. We make it possible
during this weekend.
Workshop objective
To learn the composition of simple pieces and the
fundamental rules of harmony. Learn to use an
accompanying instrument by ear.
Course schedule
After a theoretical introduction on Thursday evening,
the course attendees will accompany their teachers
playing dance music on Friday and Saturday morning.

12th DAY OF FOLK MUSIC MEETS
ANCIENT HANDICRAFTS AND
REGIONAL PRODUCTS
Browse, sample and enjoy – is the motto on 28th June 2014, when the 12th
Annual Day of Folk Music and the „Musica et Artificium“ Festival is taking
place. The clocks will be turned back for a couple of days and children and
adults will be transported into the world of yesteryear.
What could be nicer or more original than listening to traditional folk music,
sampling local products or inspecting ancient handicrafts in the midst of lush
green meadows and the Tyrolean Mountains?
Embark on a special journey to former times, joined by around 20 folk
music ensembles playing musical gems from bygone years. Craftsmen
including sculptors, basket weavers and schnapps makers will be on hand all
day long to introduce visitors to their ancient and almost forgotten
professions.
Our trip down memory lane encompasses not only ancient handicrafts, but
also local cuisine. Enjoy the friendly atmosphere in the pedestrian zone and
take the opportunity to sample the strange sounding but delicious tasting
local specialities, such as “Kiachla, Prügeltorte, Schiebli” and much more.
And who knows, maybe you will manage to coax one of the market stall cooks
to reveal one or the other secret ingredient, so you can try making these
specialities back home.

12th DAY OF FOLK MUSIC
„Get together, sing, play and dance“

For the 12th time now, the entire pedestrian zone at St. Anton am Arlberg will be
devoted to Alpine Folk Music. Ensembles from Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Styria, Carinthia,
South Tyrol and Switzerland etc. will be performing some truly wonderful and
genuine musical gems. Talented musicians will be playing on the sun terraces and
guest houses of the village. A real treat for fans of this style of music, which has
been cherished and passed down alpine generations as a living culture.
Around 20 music groups can be heard all over the village from 11-18 hrs.

Evening mass will be held in the parish church of St. Anton at 19.00 hrs,
accompanied by several of the music groups. The day will draw to a pleasant
close with a participating singers and musicians meeting for a chat in various
local guest houses.

An entertaining brunch will be held at the Sennhütte from 11.00 hrs on Sunday,
where many musicians from the Day of Folk Music will be performing. The day is
complemented by a “Tea” hike with Tyrolean delicacies traditionally baked in a
