National Pie Day & Ugly Sweater Day Our Life Enrichment department kicked off the month of December by celebrating National Pie Day on the first of the month. Our wonderful residents got to participate in a pie walk, similar to a cake walk, & won delicious prizes. Additionally, residents really got into the spirit of the traditional Ugly Sweater craze! During Social Hour, our Life Enrichment Coordinator, Mimi, joined in the fun, too. The JANUARY 2022 holidays were filled with spirit, fun, and cheerful engagements for all to participate in and treasure. Annual Christmas Party! Happy New Year! Last month Parkway Place threw it’s Annual Holiday Open House Celebration! This party is one of the biggest of the year, as we have multiple entertainers, a plethora of delicious food and desserts prepared by our fabulous Culinary department, & lots of fun all throughout the first floor of Independent Living… no seats were vacant! This party was such a blast for residents, staff, and even the many prospects who joined us as well. We hope you all had a safe and very Merry Christmas! Associate of the Month Join us in congratulating Stephen Nwokoye for being named Associate of the Month for December 2021! Stephen has been serving Seniors here for a whopping seventeen years! Amazing! Stephen is a certified nursing assistant in our Healthcare department. He comes to work everyday with a positive mindset and truly has a five-star attitude in every situation. It takes someone with a big, giving heart to help others daily and Stephen exemplifies that perfectly. What a gem Stephen has been to Parkway Place for all these years! Congratulations, Stephen, and thank you for inspiring happiness daily here at Parkway Place! Who Doesn’t Like a Good Agatha Christe Mystery? In 1926, Agatha Christie vanished for 11 days. The book, The Mystery of Mrs. Christie, by Marie Benedict, is a clever reconstruction of Mrs. Christie's mysterious disappearance. She vanishes deliberately so as to ensnare her husband, Archie, in a trap as payback for his infidelity. With twists, surprises, and an ending that packs a punch, The Mystery of Mrs. Christie, is a whodunit worthy of its famous heroin. Some of Agatha Christie's most famous books are those involving the character, Hercule Poirot, are Murder on the Orient Express, The ABC murders, and And Then There Were None. Many years ago I actually traveled to Yorkshire, England, the actual place where Mrs Christie spent her 11 days. The town is proud of its connection to the famous Agatha Christie. -Jerry Ballard, Independent Living Resident and Book Club Member
