AIA News:

SUSPENDED MEMBERS LIST

The suspended members for 2021 have been posted on the home page of the
AIA website. Please click on “Suspended Members 2021” to review.

NOTE: These members are no longer legally entitled to practice agrology in
Alberta. Members who continue to practice agrology without a valid practice
permit may be subject to findings of unprofessional conduct, fines and a court
injunction to cease all agrology work.

VOTE NOW! 2021 COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Council elections are open until February 10, 2021 at noon. The three
candidates are:

   •   Boyd Laing, PAg
   •   Ryan Puhlmann, PAg
   •   Samantha MacKay,PAg

Candidate information can be found on your member home page under "2021
Council Election Candidates". The RTAg Alberta Candidate Council position
was acclaimed (Drew Lockwood). Support the candidate you feel is best suited
for AIA Council whose primary task is to regulate the practice of agrology in
Alberta. Allow your voice to be heard! Please log on to your member portal to
vote now.

2021 CCP RECORD- NOW OPEN!
The recording/entry capability for the 2021 CCP is now available for member
use. This CCP entry delay was to accommodate the current programming
capabilities of our CCP program. Thank you for your patience!

ANRE PRACTICE STANDARD: 30 DAY REVIEW

The second draft of the Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics
Practice Standard is ready for member review. Members have 30 days (until
March 6th) to submit their comments and suggestions. Please submit your
Practice Standard comments to Cassie Hayes, Professional Practice
Coordinator. We look forward to receiving your suggestions!

AIA WEBINAR SERIES

The AIA continues to provide weekly technical webinars for our registered
members. Click on the following upcoming webinar topics for more information
and to register:

   •   "Situational Leadership in Tough Times" by John Knapp
   •   "Soil Health, Symbiosis and How You Can Help" by Brian Springer
   •   "Development Of Biomass-based Adsorbents For Remediation Of
       Soil And Water" by Christopher Nzediegwu
   •   "The Future of Mineral Nutrition: How Form Affects Function
       Synopsis" by Dr. Richard Murphy

All AIA webinars will be suitable for continuing competence hours towards your
CCP requirement. Please watch your emails for upcoming webinar
announcements and registration opportunities! All webinars will be recorded
and uploaded to the AIA website HERE within one week of the presentation.
Closed captioning will be provided for each webinar after the presentation is
complete.
2021 WEBINAR SERIES: UOFA AND ALLTECH

The AIA will continue to host a series of technical webinars presented by the
University of Alberta's Energy Systems Signature Area for 2021. Topics will
include: Remediation, Revegetation, and Reclamation; Renewables and
Infrastructure; Indigenous Communities; Wetland Development; and Biomass.
The first six sessions for 2021 (one per month) have been posted on the AIA

The AIA has also partnered with Alltech to present a series of webinars
targeted to agricultural themes. Webinar topics include: Mycotoxins; Antibiotic
Resistance in Poultry; Livestock Nutrition; and the Environmental Footprint of

THE BLUE BOOK

Alberta Barley, Alberta Canola, Alberta Pulse Growers and the Alberta Wheat
Commission have launched albertabluebook.com, the new website for
Alberta’s Crop Protection Guide. The new website has the enhanced feature of
an advanced pre-order system for the 2021 Blue Book. Place your order with
them today for the 2021 Blue Book, and receive it in March!

   1.   Paragon Soil and Environmental Consulting Inc. is offering two short
        courses for external students in April 2021.
        •   Soil Classification (SOIL 410) – April 14 to April 15, 2021
        •   Soil Mapping (SOIL 420) – April 21 to April 22, 2021
2.   Lakeland College will be hosting the "2021 Conference on
     Environmental Management", on March 16, 18, and 25th. CLICK HERE

3.   The CLRA Alberta Chapter’s 2021 virtual conference "Looking Forward",
     will take place February 24-25, 2021. CLICK HERE to learn more or to
     register!
4.   Grassland Restoration Forum is hosting a FREE winter webinar series
     beginning Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 from 12:00 – 13:00 MST. To
     view upcoming webinars in the series, please CLICK HERE.
5.   GRF will continue to hold in-person and hands on events this year
     modifying as necessary to accommodate social distancing and health
     regulations. Dates and general information on GRF 2021 events &
     training are available HERE.
6.   Wetland Knowledge Exchange’s monthly webinar series presents
     "Conservation Begins at Home: Understanding Personal, Commercial
     and Conservation Values of Landowner Stewardship on the Family
     Farm", on February 23rd. CLICK HERE to register now.
7.   The CFIA is gathering insights and ideas on opportunities to further
     enable innovation, growth and competitiveness. Visit CFIA’s consultation
     webpage, " Framing Competitiveness and Innovation for Success"
     to participate. This consultation is open for a 60-day period, from
     January 18, 2021 to March 19, 2021.
8.   In partnership, AgCareers.com and CareersinFood.com have developed,
     "Feed Your Future" to support the awareness of career opportunities in
     the agriculture and food industries through a series of regional virtual
     events across Canada and the United States. For information on

9.   Salmtec is hosting a blended/online course entitled: "Grassland
     Vegetation Inventory: A User’s Guide (W21)". Registration opens on
     February 15th. CLICK HERE for information. Salmtec will also be
hosting a "Biophysical Bootcamp Training Series –(S21)" in the Montane
         Natural Region. CLICK HERE for information. Registration opens
         February 1, 2021.
   10.   ABWRET-A Winter 2021 (W21) Online/Blended Course: This intensive
         20 to 24 hour course provides an in-depth understanding of how
         wetlands are evaluated in Alberta under the Wetland Policy, by blending
         online theory (narrated by Dr. Paul Adamus, WET developer). For more

   11.   The Western Canadian Dairy Seminar, a world class dairy production
         conference, is being held virtually from March 8 to 12. CLICK HERE to

   12.   Join UofC at their, "Idea Exchange" webinar on February 24th! They will
         explore the ground-breaking technology, policy reform and research that
         is transforming the agri-food and agri-tech sector to stimulate economic
         growth, strengthen food supply chain integrity, and put safe, healthy food
