APRIL BREAK PROGRAMS: SKATEBOARDING & SCIENCE/STEM
INTRO TO SKATEBOARDING – APRIL BREAK CAMP (AGES 4-17)
Richard Beck is excited to teach new students the growing sport
of Skateboarding. Richard has grown the skate community here
in Newtown. This program will focus on beginning
skateboarding with safety first. The rules of the park and how
to traverse from one side to the other and around the park
safely will be focused upon. Students will learn how to not fall
but if they do, how to fall correctly. Students will work on
learning to Ollie, drop in and the names of the tricks and
possible tricks when ready. The program will be adjusted to
the skill level and there will be skill assessments. Participants
should bring their own skateboard, helmet, knee pads, elbow
pads and wrist guards. Rain location will be at the Pavilion.

engaging social activities. Affinity Esports is on a mission to create safe spaces for happier and healthier
gamers. Our recreational clinics cover basic to advanced gameplay while placing your child in a social
environment that requires teamwork, critical thinking, quick decision making, and leadership. We will guide
your child to harness their passion for gaming with an extreme commitment to balance. Esports has been

Tiny Tots (ages 4-5): A program that has proven to be effective in
developing motor coordination, the fundamentals of tennis and the
love of the game for children.

Beginner: Player is introduced to the forehand, backhand, serve and
volley with drills, fun games and game situations.

Advanced Beginner: Player has had introduction to grips and strokes
and is starting to consistently make solid contact with the ball.

Low Intermediate: Player is starting to keep the ball in play, learning to serve, can volley and learn court
positioning.

Intermediate: Player can keep the ball in play, can hit with some spin, can serve, volley and rally consistently.

Advanced Junior: Player continues to progress by refining strokes, concentrating on footwork, court strategy,
and ball placement.

Match Play: During the Match Play, coach will oversee the play and Participants will learn how to play a match
including scoring, etiquette, strategy and positioning. Participants must be able to serve and rally using
orange, green dot or adult balls.

Sessions are 5 weeks and offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

SQUIRTS SOCCER (AGES 3-4)
Soccer Squirts is your child’s perfect introduction to
the most popular sport in the world. Boys and girls
will learn the fundamental skills of soccer including
dribbling, passing, shooting and defending. Each
session starts with a fun and exciting warm-up game,
followed by activities and instruction on the skill of
the day. Participants then have the opportunity to put

SQUIRTS MULTI SPORTS (AGES 3-4)
This program allows children to experience a variety
of sports throughout the session. It is the perfect
introduction to athletics for your future sports star.
Each session begins with a brief introduction to the
day’s sport and equipment before jumping into the
first skill-acquisition activity. In addition to
emphasizing the fundamentals of each sport, each
activity is designed to improve hand-eye coordination,
balance, agility and movement. Each session finishes
with an exciting game-related activity or scrimmage.
