Page 2 SAINT-ANICET ECHO The mayor’s corner… While we are nearing the end of a 4-year mandate, it is time to look back on the successes the Municipality had in the last 47 months. There’s a long list of actions, new initiatives that were realised to promote the health and economic vitality of Saint-Anicet, it’s difficult to choose which is the best. I can name, the increase of the working capital to avoid future need for loans to purchase rolling stock, the reduction of the cost of garbage and recycling collections since contracts were signed with the Town of Huntingdon, a new organization structure to help us perform better and the intergeneration park, a project that began with the action plan of the MADA 2017-2019. For the future, the council is working on an ecocentre project to improve our performance in waste reduction. A strategic plan will help guide the decisions of the council and the work of the general management by stressing service excellence, financial health and responsible growth. Our success in the long term is the result of thinking for the future and decisions sometimes difficult that the municipal council had to take in the last years. Maintaining a relatively low tax rate is at the same time the result of healthy management and of the willingness to adapt to answer constantly evolving conditions. We cannot rest on what we did in the past, we must evolve together! I wish to thank the members of the council for their hard work and their continued dedication. The objective of the council has always been the well-being of citizens, improve their quality of life and to make our Municipality one of the best places to live. Thank you to the present managing director, Denis Lévesque, for his leadership towards the personnel and his support of the council for the last two years. A large part of the changes we have seen are due to his ability to transform idea to reality. The council joins me to also thank our former managing director, Lyne Viau, who dedicated 18 years to that position. Congratulations and thanks to all our volunteers and our non-profits for their work and dedication, your work is greatly appreciated. A very special thank you to all our employees, those people who feel strongly for their Municipality. The council is pleased to have renewed a new collective agreement valid to 2025. In closing, I wish to thank you, the citizens of Saint-Anicet, for trusting me and I hope that trust will be there in the future. A municipality is as great as its citizens. SAINT-ANICET ECHO Page 7 Recreation and events Hallowe’en is here! It’s important to remember the safety rules while this much-anticipated trick or treat time is here: • Ring door bells in a group or with an adult. Never trick or treat alone. • Always remain at the entrance and never go inside the houses. • Refuse to approach or climb aboard a vehicle without a parent’s permission. • Look both ways before crossing the street. • Check the candies before eating them. • Make sure you are visible on the street by having a flashlight, a visible disguise or reflective tape on you. • For drivers, safety is the password, reduce your speed since there will be lots of pedestrians on the streets. Stay posted for events to come all year long.

SAINT-ANICET ECHO Page 9 SOME NEWS FROM YOUR HISTORICAL SOCIETY BEGINNING OF FALL 2021 September is a month to celebrate our heritage and culture and the volunteers of the Historical Society answered the call, first with our church and then with our young people. Sunday, September 12, during the « Religious heritage Day », more than thirty visitors came to hear the presentation made by Annie Legault on the history of the parish and of our church. They then proceeded to visit the church. A big thank you to Annie and to the volunteers who organized this event! It will surely be something to be repeated next year. Then more activities were held in the municipality for culture days last September 24, 25 and 26. The Society thought about children young and old, by offering a reading of the story « The Hockey Sweater » by Rock Carrier. It was apt to present at the same time an exhibition on hockey in the municipality. Our reader Caroline Caza had a great time telling this story with lots of historical references: the school, the church, the Eaton’s catalog, the general store, the post office… and the Montreal Canadiens with Maurice Richard at the time when they were invicible! Thank you to the ONF for allowing us to show the video, and the Canadiens Foundation for children with a gift of a T-shirt as well as the Municipality of Saint-Anicet with a gift of two copies of the book. These objects were the subject of a draw among the participants: Winners of the two books « Le Chandail de hockey »: Alexis Côté and Xavier Chrétien. Winner of the Montreal Canadiens T-shirt: Courtney Mullins. Once again, thank you to all our visitors, volunteers, members and supporters! Follow us on Facebook ( SocieteHistoriquedeSaintAnicet )!
