                                                                                  elcome to the 2017 edition of the Australian
                                                                                  Institute of Building’s Professional Excellence in
                                                                                  Building National Awards Magazine. Based on my
                                                                                  own experiences attending each of the state events
                                                                   this year, I know that you will all find the list of entries and award
                                                                   winners inspirational, underscoring the level of professionalism in
                                                                   building and construction.
                                                                   Repeated often, these Awards are unique in that they
                                                                   focus on how a structure was built and not what was built,
                                                                   distinguishing individual excellence and the Institute’s conferral of
                                                                   a “Professional Excellence Award” reserved only for those that
                                                                   apply superior knowledge and skill in practice.
                                                                   Reflecting on the results of the individual Chapter events, it has
                                                                   been highlighted once again the greatness of the building and
                                                                   construction industry both domestically and internationlly with
                                                                   extremely high standards achieved and illlustrated by all of the
                                                                   entrants.So to all leaders and members of the project delivery
                                                                   teams involved with the works,the Institute salutes you.
                                                                   In advance, I congratulate all the Professional Excellence Awards

    CPB Contractors delivered the ExxonMobil Permanent Facilities
    Compound (PFC) in Port Moresby, PNG via a construct only
    contract. The development comprised a four-storey head office
    building, central community building, sports and recreation facilities
    and sports field, and an operational support warehouse.

At the 2017 Australian Institute of Builders Victorian Awards, Angus Brooks and Jonathan Benjamin
             each received a Professional Excellence Award in the Commercial Construction $1-5 million
             category for their work on the Chin Chin and GoGo Bar refurbishment and Gold Moon Brighton
         projects respectively. Angus was also named Building Professional of the Year Commercial Construction.

     existing external stone façade was treated and repointed with internal
     jarrah floor boards restored to its original state. The original structure was
     strengthened to incorporate earthquake restraints and the roof was re-
     engineered to facilitate the acoustic plasterboard ceiling loads.
     Brown’s House - Restoration of the Misses Brown’s House, resulting in a
     refurbishment to the administration hub and meeting spaces. All the main
