Weekend Wide Game is a lightweight competition
camp. It typically involves hiking to different bases,
where Patrols are assessed on how well they follow
guidelines, use initiative, and work as a team. WWG
tends to have less structure than a Rally: Scouts are
given objectives and broad rules, but it is up to them
how they proceed. Patrols may visit all, some, or few
of the aforementioned bases during the game. The
WWG is a game as well as a competition. This tends
to mean that the winners are those that played the
game the best.

Air Activity Centre
Air Venture Flying Camp | 14-20 July
For the next 20 years, the world will need a newly trained airline pilot every 14 minutes. The
demand for more pilots is needed due to the tremendous growth in air travel. Forecasters
expect most of these new pilots will be required in the Australasian region.
If you picture yourself working in an office that looks like this, it could all start for you at the
Scouts NSW, Air Activity Centre (AAC)! The AAC has been operating for 45 years and has
trained numerous pilots that are now employed by global airlines, the military and air traffic
control centres across the country.
The Scouts AAC offers two residential week long flying camps for Venturers in January and July each year that
require no prior experience with aircraft that will get you well on your way to your very first solo flight. Be quick
– the ‘Air Venture’ camps fill up fast! See the Scouts NSW, Air Activity Centre website for details.
http://www.air.nsw.scouts.com.au/air-venture-flying-camp/
Scout leaders that have any interest in aviation, are always welcome at the AAC and parents are welcome to
join their Scouts and learn to fly.
The AAC offers a tailored program of Air Activities for Cubs, Scouts and Joeys most weekends during the school
term. Simply contact the AAC via the Scouts NSW, AAC website or find us on Facebook

Water Activities Centre
Sydney Harbour
If you want to have fun on the most beautiful harbour in the world, you’ve found the right
place. Here you will feel the gentle sea breeze as you sail past some of the most iconic sites
in Sydney. You can choose to paddle a canoe along our beautiful rivers or zoom in the Zodiac
powering around our extraordinary harbour.
We have a fleet of power boats, sailing boats, and canoes at the Centre, making this an ideal
destination for all Scout Sections.
What we do:
Water Activities Days: have the time of your life through a one day familiarisation experience covering sailing,
power boats or canoes. We also run courses and workshops in sailing, canoeing, and power boating for various
levels of experience. These include a course in canoeing especially for Cub and Scouts badgework, as well
as sailing and canoeing for Scout section skills levels. We can even help you obtain your NSW Maritime Boat
License for Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders.
Check our calendar for our new ‘Try Sailing’ days.
The Water Base has been situated at the pointy end of the Point Road in Woolwich since 1973, ever since the
Hunters Hill Sailing Club moved to Merrington Place, Woolwich. We have water access to the Lane Cove River
and Sydney Harbour.
The base is staffed by volunteers of the Scout Association who are permanently attached to the base, as well
as many Leaders, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers from Groups all over Sydney. Our staff are a group of highly
qualified and motivated people, who are dedicated to training youth and adult members of Scouts. If you would
like to become a staff member or helper please email the Booking Manager: booking.swash@nsw.scouts.com.au
It’s a great way to support Scouting, and an excellent way to develop and learn new skills. You can even gain
qualifications!
SWASH is open to all members of Scouting. Many parents also enjoy coming out on the water, and are also
welcome. You’ll find more information on our website, at www.water.nsw.scouts.com.au, including a calendar
and list of courses available. http://www.water.nsw.scouts.com.au/calender

Contrary to popular belief, Alpine activities don’t just happen in the winter. Kosciusko National
Park and its surrounding areas provide spectacular bushwalking and outdoor adventure
opportunities all year round. We offer bushwalking, caving, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing
and kayaking, sailing, climbing, abseiling, and horse riding all nearby, as well as skiing in the
winter months. The biggest challenge you’ll have is trying to fit in everything you’d like to do.
The Alpine Activities Centre provides a variety of accommodation options for Scouting
members to use as a base, or at the start or finish of your next Alpine adventure. Check out

Baden Powell Scout Centre
Situated on 36 hectares adjoining Lane Cove National Park, the Baden-Powell Scout Centre
offers flexible training facilities and cabin style accommodation in a bushland setting only
25 km from Sydney CBD. We’ve got some amazing adventurous activities on site, including
High Ropes, Flying Fox, and a ton of other great activities. Our professional staff can tailor a
programme to suit your Group’s ability and needs.
Once you arrive at the Centre you feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet
you are only relatively short distances from the major sporting facilities at Sydney Olympic
Park, the airport terminal at Mascot, the Sydney CBD and the Blue Mountains - most of which is accessible via
fast motorways or freeways, significantly reducing travel time.
The Centre also backs onto the Great North Walk, providing some very interesting options for bushwalking,
either using the camp as a base for day walks, or a civilized break along a longer walk. Check out our website at

The Golden West Hearts for Hathi When you spend time with Scout Leaders for week long camps, you end up more like family. And the Lones Scout Group is exactly that; adult and youth members become a family. So when one of those members becomes sick, you will pull out all the stops to help that person. This is what Michael ‘Spanner’ Fuller has done. He raised money for Brain Cancer Research. Spanner made woggles to sell for Brain Cancer Research in a wonderful cause called “Hearts for Hathi”, and over Murum, week long Lones Camp held at Canobolas Scout Camp, he raised $400! If anyone would like to support Hearts for Hathi and get a woggle, email Spanner on michael.spanner@tgwscouts.org.au and he can send them off to you. All money raised will be donated straight to the Brain Cancer Awareness Foundation. 18
