Painswick Lawn Tennis Club is situated in the beautiful village
of Painswick in Gloucestershire. The Club welcomes new
members: individual, family, senior and junior.
The Club runs men's and lady’s teams in Gloucestershire
Leagues in addition to internal tournaments, both serious and
informal, and Club sessions where members are welcome to
turn up and play.

Availability and Use of Courts
Please see the relevant pages of this booklet for allocation of court time. A
list of all home team matches, both adult and junior, will be displayed on
the notice boards in both pavilions. Occasionally it may prove necessary to
utilise periods that are shown as free for matches where they need to be
re-arranged. Conversely match allocated times may be used by members
when not required for matches.
Visitors
Visitors are welcome and may play as guests of existing members for a
maximum of THREE TIMES IN A YEAR, after which they must apply for
membership if they wish to continue using club facilities. THE VISITOR
FEE IS £2 PER SESSION FOR ADULTS AND £1 FOR JUNIORS. It is the
responsibility of the club member to complete the appropriate visitor’s book
held in each pavilion and to pass the visitor fee to a committee member.
Visitors are not covered by any insurance if their names are not entered
into the visitor’s book and if they are not playing with a Club member.
Court Lighting & Pavilion Heating
Court lighting is available for members to use operated by a switch system
in the electrical cabinet in the pavilion. Floodlights should not be used
unnecessarily but once switched off must not be put back on within 20
minutes. All floodlights must be switched off at 10.00pm. Please lock
the pavilion and ALL the gates to the courts on leaving.
Background heating in the pavilion is operated by a press button switch on
the right side of the electrical cabinet. This is a timed facility and will switch
off automatically after 30 minutes. Please do not alter the dials on the
heater unit and ensure that the pavilion door is kept closed.
Teams
Mens, ladies, mixed and junior teams are entered into local and county
leagues throughout the year. Team practice takes place in the spring at
Broadham. Selection is influenced by attendance at the team training
sessions. Availability and commitment to matches is expected. Anyone
interested in playing team tennis should contact the respective
captains.

Only those who are members of PLTC and British Tennis, are over 9 years
of age, and have OPTED IN to the Wimbledon ballot may apply for
Wimbledon Tickets. Members will be advised by email on how the ballot for
tickets will be run.
2021 Wimbledon Championships – we await the decision from the
organisers as to whether any spectators will be allowed this year.
British Tennis Membership
British Tennis Membership is an individual membership scheme for those
who play or have an interest in British Tennis and is free to all Club
members. Wimbledon tickets are now allocated to the Club on the basis of
the number of members who have joined British Tennis and have opted in
to the Wimbledon Ballot via the LTA website.
Club Constitution & Rules
A copy of the Club Constitution & Rules is available in each pavilion or can
be obtained from the Secretary.
Dogs
No animals belonging to members or visitors are allowed on Club
premises.
Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy
Painswick Lawn Tennis Club takes the safeguarding of all its members
very seriously and has a process in place to deal with any issues such as
bullying, discrimination or other concerns.
If you would like to bring a problem to the club’s attention or if anything or
anyone at the club is making you feel unhappy or unsafe in any way, Judith
Todd would be happy to talk things over and take whatever steps are
necessary to resolve the issue. You can talk to Judith in confidence on

Judith has attended LTA safeguarding training and has current DBS
certification.

The Painswick Tennis Academy provides tennis coaching and fitness
training for players of all ages and abilities. Group and individual lessons
run every day of the week and are taught by LTA qualified and licensed
coaches who are committed to keeping up to date with the ever-changing
trends of the game tactically, technically, physiologically and physically.
The courses start with pre-school tennis and lead into our accredited Mini
Tennis programme. The emphasis at this stage is to have fun and learn
sporting values through controlled competition. As players progress they
have the option of taking the sport more seriously and advice and training
is given on all aspects of the game.

Information about coaching can be found on the notice boards. Queries
should be directed to any of the coaches who will guide appropriately to
meet the needs of both juniors and adults.

Junior Matchplay Tournaments 2021
Mini Red, Orange and Grade 6 Matchplay Tournaments will be run
throughout the year encompassing all age groups.

Junior Teams and Competitions
Teams will be entered into the Team Tennis Gloucestershire summer and
winter competitions and there will also be the Road to Wimbledon

COURT BOOKING SYSTEM
We have now launched a court booking system through ClubSpark. This
can be accessed at https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/PainswickLawnTennisClub.
All members will have received an invite to sign up to the system and book
courts. If you’ve not received this please email
membership@painswickltc.co.uk.
The following will apply when you make a booking:
• Bookings can be up to 90 minutes in length (you can make a
shorter booking in 30 minute blocks)
• You will be able to make 1 booking per day (you are welcome to
play on unbooked courts at other times in the day)
• Bookings can be made up to 6 days in advance.
• Courts 1-5 at Broadham and the 2 courts at The Rec are available
for booking. Coaches still have priority on court 6 at Broadham.
There is no requirement to book a court to play. However, you may need to
give way to someone who has booked.
