Rise ‘n Shine Café is a café built from
shipping containers which started their life
as part of the Christchurch Container City
rebuild project. They have crossed land
and sea and are now situated on Jonah
Lomu Drive in Paerata Rise.
Before opening in Paerata in December
2018, a few new touches were added to
the design including a fresh coat of paint
and new flooring.
Expona Commercial was the choice of
flooring for this gorgeous setting. Ideally
suited to heavy commercial areas within
the retail, leisure, office, education and
healthcare sectors, Expona Commercial

The Aro Arataki Children’s Centre is situated on the
Greenlane Clinical site and provides a service for the
children of staff of the Auckland District Health Board.
A recent refurb of the facility included the installation
of Forest FX and Classic Mystique in the main play
area and bathrooms.
“We have previously installed Forest FX and Clas-
sic Mystique in Auckland hospital areas such as the
whanau waiting room, patient rooms and offices.
Using Classic Mystique around the borders and pairing
it with the Forest FX woodgrain creates its own char-
acteristics in an area. The client was looking to bring a
homely and warm feel into the space and when we
presented this design concept to the client, they were
very pleased.” says Annlee at Crown Flooring.
The Forest FX collection of wood effect vinyl sheet
floorcoverings is specifically designed for a wide
range of commercial interiors. The contemporary
and creative timber designs are ideal for education,
healthcare, retail and leisure sectors, developed and
presented in a practical, resilient and hygienic prod-

Expona Simplay was chosen to replace an old
wood floor in a residential kitchen in Cockle Bay.
Developed for heavy commercial interiors, Expo-
na Simplay can also be used in areas throughout
the home.
The innovative vinyl construction features a glass
fibre stabilisation and also a unique honeycomb
backing layer to ensure the tiles stay in position.
This highly durable product is 100% recyclable
and features a hygienic polyurethane reinforce-
ment (PUR) to protect the floor and reduce on-
going maintenance costs.
As Expona Simplay can be installed over many
different types of existing floorcoverings, subfloor
preparation is significantly reduced.

wa.

The recent makeover of the Merivale FreshChoice Su-
permarket boasts 1460m² of Expona Commercial Cool
Grey Concrete 5068 throughout the main supermarket
floor combined with 250m² of Expona Commercial
Honey Ash 4022 and Expona Commercial Roasted
Oak 4079 in the climate controlled Wine Cellar.
Part of the complete makeover included extensive
substrate preparation following historical slab issues,
isolated high moisture readings and changes in layout
over the years all compounded by earthquake dam-
age.
Working alongside Christchurch based retailer,
Flooring Specialists and contractor Canterbury Floor-
makers, Polyflor NZ wrote a Total System Warranty to
ensure all issues such as moisture were controlled and
the substrate finished to a high standard to receive
the Expona Commercial Tiles and Planks.
Using the Kiesel Total System Warranty system as
specified, including a full Okapox GF epoxy moisture
barrier, Kiesel Ki1 Floor levelling compound, Okamul PU
polyurethane and Star 100 Plus adhesives, the Canter-
bury Floormakers have achieved a fantastic result to a
very high standard of workmanship.

The Beast

Saarfloor Noppe Stud Tile
Sir Michael Hill’s luxurious 40-metre-long catama-
ran, dubbed “The Beast” took 22 months to build
and weighs 480 tonnes.
The catamaran will be available for commercial
hire and will launch in March 2019.
Built in Palmerston North by Profab Engineering,
it sleeps 12 guests in 5 cabins and also features a
Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant style barbecue
on the fly bridge. Its decks offer three outdoor
dining options.
The multi-role boat can be used for scuba div-
ing, including compression chambers on board;
ferrying crews to oil and gas rigs; and is fitted with
a remote operated submarine to investigate
underwater sites. The boat has a second helm
at the back of the wheelhouse, and is equipped
with dynamic positioning technology that keeps
the boat in place regardless of waves and swells,
at the touch of a joystick.
“The Beast” is one of the largest boats built in
New Zealand and also comes with kayaks, pad-
dle boards and fishing equipment.

installed in the corridors, stair-cases, the galley
and laundry area. Noppe stud flooring is a hard
wearing rubber tile with a low-profile studded
surface.

New Ocean Fish and Chip Restaurant Dives into the Palettone Collection with Custom Design
The Ocean Fish and Chips Restaurant in Preston fea-
tures a maritime inspired décor. Designed by Nigel • 50 colour range
