GENERAL COMMENTS
AND OBSERVATIONS
Visitors are advised to take out health
insurance and travel assistance, which includes
medical care for Covid-19.
Upon arrival in Cabo Verde, your body
temperature is checked.
If it is higher than 37.5ºC, you will be sent to an
isolated room at the airport for further evaluation.
If you have fever, a cough or shortness of
breath, you will be subjected to a test approved
by the local authorities for Covid-19.

While waiting for the results, you will remain in
the existing and certified isolation and treatment
center.
While staying within the national territory,
foreign visitors must, like nationals and residents,
follow the rules, at all the times, instructions,
health and safety measures in force in the country,
as well as the instructions of the authorities, until
the moment they leave the national territory, to
ensure, throughout their stay, that they maintain
the necessary health security and physical
integrity, while having a pleasant experience on
their trip to Cabo Verde, so that, hopefully, they
can visit the country again.

PCR OR ANTIGENS TESTS IN CABO VERDE
FOR DEPARTING VISITORS
RT-PCR OR ANTIGENS TEST to leave
Cabo Verde are not mandatory for visitors whose
countries of origin do not require that.
RT-PCR OR ANTIGENS TEST are available
on the following islands: Fogo, Sal, São Vicente

and Santiago.
Visitors who need to perform tests should
contact the Public Health Authority up to 72 hours
in advance to make the necessary arrangements
The SARS-CoV-2 identification testing for
international travel has a fixed price of 6500$00
(six thousand five hundred escudos -
approximately 59€).SYMPTOMATIC CASES
Emergency Procedures
Visitors who develop symptoms of a possible
respiratory infection (fever, cough, shortness of
breath) will be referred to the health services for
prompt attention. In case it is confirmed with a
PCR OR ANTIGENS TEST that the visitor is
infected with COVID-19, the Public Health
Authority requires that the visitor be isolated
in one of the existing treatment centers until
recovery from the infection. 11
Suspicious cases will require isolation. If you
are in a hotel, you must stay inside the room and
cannot leave until you have the test results. In this
case, the PCR or antigen test will be prioritized
so that results can be obtained within 24 hours
and thus a decision can be made on whether to
continue in the hotel or go to an isolation space.If the result is positive, the visitor will be
transferred to the isolation space already
identified by the country's authorities, whether
showing symptoms or not.

In the case of a child or person with special
needs or reduced mobility, they will be
accompanied by an adult (father, mother, or
guardian), fulfilling all preventive measures, if the
adult is negative.The sample will be collected preferably at the
hotel to avoid the circulation of the suspicious
case.
The isolation/treatment for mild cases,
according to the current national guidelines,
for asymptomatic patients, is 10 days from the
date of sample collection and 13 days at least
for symptomatic patients from the first day of the
onset of symptoms.
For special care there are Intensive Care

Centers prepared and certified by internationally
accredited entities.
The costs of treatment and accommodation
in Cabo Verde are charged to users and/or
operators/insurers, as appropriate.
Everyone is advised to travel with international
health insurance coverage, including Covid-19
care.ASYMPTOMATIC CASES
All cases, symptomatic or not, must comply with
the isolation requirements at the Covid-19
Treatment Centers indicated by the health
authorities, for a period of 10 days.
Hotel establishments should monitor
all identified cases until the arrival of health
authorities, who will evaluate the situation, to
better decide the measures to be taken.
Cases with mild symptoms will be referred to
the existing treatment centers, following the
procedures and protocols, until their discharge.
14More severe cases requiring special treatment
and attention will be treated in hospitals, and if
justified, will be admitted to the intensive care
units prepared and certified for this purpose.
