2LanguageCert International ESOL
LanguageCert International ESOL exams are a set of English language
qualifications designed to abide by the most rigorous standards of
quality and reliability.
They provide a practical and user-friendly way to assess English for
work, study or leisure purposes. Written and Spoken Exams can be
taken independently of each other at the candidates' convenience.
They can choose the qualification CEFR level they feel ready to sit for
and certificates are awarded to them upon successfully passing the
exams. The following two exams cover all four language skills:
• LanguageCert International ESOL Written Exam
(Listening, Reading, Writing)
• LanguageCert International ESOL Spoken Exam
(Speaking)
The qualifications are available at six levels, from beginner to
advanced (A1 – C2), and are mapped to levels of the Common
European Framework (CEFR).

LanguageCert is recognised by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations
Regulation (Ofqual) as an Awarding Organisation, offering LanguageCert
International ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) qualifications.
LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications (levels A1-C2) are regulated by Ofqual

7Qualifications Wales
LanguageCert is recognised as an Awarding Organisation by Qualifications Wales, a Welsh Government-sponsored
body, responsible for the recognition of awarding bodies and the review and approval of non-degree qualifications
in Wales.
LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications (levels A1-C2) are regulated in Wales by Qualifications Wales. The
qualifications reside in the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) from Entry Level 1 to 3 and Levels 1 to 3. They
also map to the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales and Framework for Higher Education Qualifications.
In addition, they map to the European Qualifications Framework, as portability is important to those looking for jobs
or seeking to employ people from across the continent.
UCAS
LanguageCert is available on the UCAS Apply list. UCAS Apply includes LanguageCert as part of their listing
(visible to applicants who have a UCAS profile) and students can select the following LanguageCert International
ESOL qualifications as part of their application process, as appropriate proof of English language skills.

The British Accreditation Council (BAC) has included LanguageCert amongst its recognised external awarding
bodies for English language qualifications according to its International English Language Provider (IELP) scheme.
BAC with more than 30 years’ experience and expertise providing accreditation to independent further and higher
educational institutions, has developed the IELP scheme to meet today’s increasing global need for the delivery of
high-quality English language education.
The purpose of the IELP scheme is to acknowledge the quality of institutions and training providers, encompassing
teaching and assessment quality, learning experience for students, supporting institutions in their efforts to
continually improve, and providing a rigorous inspection-based accreditation service that is evidence-based and
dedicated to raising standards.

9Czech Republic
LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications have
been recognised by the Czech Ministry of Education
and are listed in the new Standarised Language
Examinations list, at levels A1 to C2. The exams are
listed in the new MŠMT “Maturita” list and are entitled
to replace the so called “optional part” of the leaving
exam (Maturita) in English. The Czech Ministry of
Education is responsible for accrediting foreign
language examination systems in the Czech Republic.

In order to comply with local regulatory requirements, LanguageCert International ESOL exams
in Hungary have been adapted in the following way:

the Accreditation Board for Foreign Language Examinations in Hungary at levels B1, B2 &

• graduation from select vocational training courses
• language allowance (salary supplement) for civil servants.
The level of recognition required depends on the requirements set by the individual education

students hold a certificate at B1 level or above.

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are officially on the list of examinations
recognised by the Romanian Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, which is
responsible for accrediting foreign language qualifications in Romania.
Levels Β1, Β2, C1 and C2 of LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are recognised as
replacement to the national matriculation examinations (Maturita) in English. Students who
hold any of these certificates may be exempted from taking the matriculation examinations.
The level of recognition required depends on the requirements set by the individual education
or government institution.

Proof of language skills for teachers of public schools
Teachers who need to prove their English language competence in all four skills in order to
work in public schools in Spain can rely on LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications.

level of English proficiency based on their grade and curriculum stream as outlined in the Management
Guidelines Teaching English by the Office of the Basic Education Commission Ministry of Education.
