SWIM POTENTIAL
Swim Lessons
The Y is a national leader in swim instruction and water safety. The YMCA of Grays Harbor aquatic programs are designed to teach
personal water safety and swimming skills to everyone. Our instructors are certified by YMCA swim instruction.

Classes arrange swimmers by skill level as swimmers progress through the instruction program. Our progressive swim instruction
method uses a problem solving, guided discovery teaching approach in a positive, caring environment.

The YMCA of Grays Harbor strives to create a safe, fun, and encouraging environment for all swimmers. In addition to teaching
swimming skills, our instructors are passionate about creating a positive atmosphere that encourages our students to be courteous,
respectful, responsible, and confident individuals and athletes. Our classes are about more than just teaching techniques, they’re
about building confidence and nurturing potential, progressing with your needs and abilities, for introductory to competitive.

Group Exercise Class Descriptions
SPINNING- It’s the original and most popular group spinning class. You’ll torch an average of 500 calories per 45-minute ride.
You’ll enjoy a heart pounding yet low impact workout while maintaining the ability to go at your own pace.

HIIT -High Intensity Interval Training — is a training concept that revolves around alternating short periods of intense exercise with
less intense recovery periods. Take on strength training, as well as improving overall cardiovascular fitness.
All exercises can be modified to fit your fitness level.
Our HIIT workouts will also focus on the core, allowing us to improve posture and overall stability.
Every class will be a little different, providing a means of exploring alternate methods for getting stronger and making ourselves
healthier.

YOGA- Improve your flexibility, balance, strength, and relaxation skills using various postures and breathing techniques.
A great calming but energizing workout!

PILATES- An inspiring mat-based class that consists of exercises to highlight core, strength, joint mobility, range of motion and
consistent flow of movement. Props may be used to intensify the workout while focusing on the mind/body connection.
Pilates focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the
spine. Equipment such as the stability ball, weighted ball and weights can be used with exercises to teach awareness of breath and
alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles. Great for all levels.

CIRCUIT – This class is a high intensity 45-minute total body training.
Excellent class to strengthen and tone the entire body while working with a variety of equipment: weights, tubes, Body bars, Bosu,
etc.

FAST & FIT - Functional strength training for 30 minutes on your lunch break.
Low impact. Modifications available for all fitness levels.

SPIN 45 – Enjoy the same great workout and benefit as Spinning but in a 45-minute class.

ABSOLUTE- 45-minute class that absolutely works more than abs.
Use a variety of equipment to strengthen your framework including glutes, core, and back.

CARDIO BLAST - A variety of dance formats with high-energy-music and fun dance moves.
Gentle cardio dance: offers modified, low-impact moves.

BOXING- This class teaches the basic boxing stance, basic footwork, and how to throw a punch while also gradually building up your
stamina, strength, and endurance.

ZUMBA- A high-intensity interval training workout driven by the music.
Using your body weight as resistance, work your whole body, gain endurance, strength, and power all while using the music as your
motivator!
You don’t have to be a dancer!

ADVANCED CORE- This fast pace, 30-minute class focuses on strengthening the core.
While it is advanced, there are modifications to meet you at your level.

LIKE US ON FACEBOOK YMCA of Grays Harbor Page 22

Enrichment Learning
A school year is filled with potential; a chance to start routines and
habits, build friendships, and discover possibilities and interests. It’s an
exciting time for many kids, and an extra exciting time for kids
entering preschool.

Early learning readiness is such an important part of social, emotional,
physical, and academic development in children, and lays the
foundation for a successful and productive experience as a lifelong
learner. The Y offers a high-quality licensed preschool during the
traditional calendar school year. Enrichment Care
