A NOTE FROM MIKE BOLDT:

If you were to ask me to choose any author whose work I would want to illustrate, Robert
Munsch would be the first on my list. After all, my own love of reading and telling stories
was shaped by The Paper Bag Princess, Mortimer, Mud Puddle and countless other Munsch
stories. When I first started working in publishing, friends and family would ask me,
“When are you going to work on a Munsch book?”—as if it were an option. I would
explain that it was something I could only dream of doing. So when I received an email
from Scholastic inquiring about my availability to illustrate a story by Robert Munsch, I
had to read and re-read the email at least half a dozen times. Even now, it’s surreal for me
to think that this actually happened. It has been one of my greatest privileges to illustrate
a book by one of my heroes.

Bob, a bouncy, hoppy frog full of irrepressible energy, won’t go to sleep. Bob just • The Story Starts Here
wants to hop. And hop and hop and hop. Finally, everyone else goes to sleep but he campaign
keeps hopping until the sun comes up. The next day, he sleeps through his whole
day — even band practice and a field trip to the zoo. The only time Bob gets any zip
back is at bedtime when his parents tell him to hop into bed. That he does, “with a
triple-flip and a double-twist!”

Perfect for every child who’s reluctant at bedtime, with a gentle reminder that rest
is needed and a new day awaits. All served with a big dose of humour and joy, and
with the distinctive style of acclaimed author and illustrator Nicholas Oldland.

A NOTE FROM PHIL LESNIE:
I love children’s books for many reasons, but at the apex of those reasons is their ability
to help young people imagine what the lives of others might be like. Imagination is the
engine of empathy, and if I believe that children’s books can effect social change in any
small way, it is in this. That they can model kindness, that they can widen a world view
that other systems seek to shrink, and in that widening call on us to deploy that kindness.
I think Phil’s writing is some of the kindest being written for children, and I’m obscenely
proud to have been allowed to help illuminate some of it.

As a lone sandpiper’s feathers drift down from the sky during its long
flight, they shine a powerful light on the importance of kindness,
hope and security for the children below.
It is time for the sandpiper journey to its winter home, half a world away. Along ALSO AVAILABLE:
the arduous journey, it loses a feather which floats down and provides a glimmer
of softness and beauty for a young boy whose home has been reduced to rubble.
Another lost feather provides a playful, loving moment for a girl and her little
brother, migrants on a long dusty road to a better life. Yet another feather falls,
giving a family a moment of hope in their flooded out village. Finally arriving at
its winter home, the bird loses one more feather, grasped out of the air by a little
girl. Both bird and child are safe and sound in their cozy home by the water . . . and
realize how lucky they are.

                   The Very Cranky Bear
                                           By Nick Bland
Moose, Lion, Zebra and Sheep take shelter in a cave on a cold and rainy day, only to
realize that a bear is there. The bear roars loudly and says that he is trying to sleep.
Not understanding why the bear is so cranky, the other animals come up with ways
to cheer him up. Moose finds antlers for him, Lion gives him a mane, and Zebra
paints on stripes. Is there anything the four well-meaning friends can do to help the
  bear sleep?

                           Supergifted
                               By Gordon Korman

NYT bestselling author Gordon Korman’s sequel to Ungifted
cleverly sends up our preconceived ideas about intelligence,
                         heroism and popularity!
Donovan Curtis has never been what anyone would call “gifted.” But his genius ALSO AVAILABLE:
friend Noah Youkilis is actually supergifted, with one of the highest IQs around.
After years at the Academy for Scholastic Distinction, all Noah dreams of is the
opportunity to fail if he wants to. And he’s landed in the perfect place to do it —
Donovan’s school.

Almost immediately, Noah finds himself on the wrong side of cheerleading captain
Megan Mercury and alpha jock Hash “Hashtag” Taggart. Sticking up for Noah lands
Donovan in the middle of a huge feud with Hashtag. He’s told to stay away from the
sports star — or else.
                                                                                       Ungifted
That should be the end of it, but when a freak incident suddenly makes Donovan a $8.99 PB • 978-1-4431-3349-4
hero, he can’t tell anyone about it since Hashtag is involved. So Noah steps in and
becomes “Superkid.” Now he’s gone from nerd to titan at school. And it may have
gone more than a little bit to his head.

    Don’t Cosplay with My Heart
                                   By Cecil Castellucci

A sweetly snarky, romantic YA novel full of crushes,
                        inner strength, and cosplay!
When Edan Kupferman dresses up like her favourite character, Gargantua, she feels
tall and powerful. That’s important right now, because her family is a mess, her best
friend is gone for the summer, her crush is confusing, and Edan’s feeling small and
not sure which end is up.

When Edan’s cosplaying, she can be angry, loud, and not the good girl everyone
thinks she is. And when she’s at conventions, she feels like she’s found her own
Team Tomorrow. But when her personal life starts to spiral out of control, Edan has
to figure out whether she needs a sidekick, or if she has the strength to be the hero
of her own story.
