Spectra Secondary School was established in 2013 as a Specialised School
for Normal Technical students.
We prepare our students for further studies in the ITE through our
customised academic and vocational curriculum.
We focus on three broad areas:
1. Nurturing students’ sense of self-worth, self-confidence and motivation
so that they lead purposeful and happy lives.
2. Enhancing students’ literacy, numeracy and digital skills so that they
experience success in school, work and life.
3. Stimulating students’ interests and career aspirations through a blended
curriculum (academic and vocational) that deepens their knowledge,
skills and attitude.4 5 Together We Can

Unique Programmes and Learning
Support
S pectra offers specialised programmes, opportunities
and platforms that are unique, engaging and cater to the
diverse interests and abilities of our students.
Key Programmes
Secondary 1
Garden-based Service Learning (GBSL) is part of the
Secondary 1 curriculum where students learn about values
such as resilience and diligence through hands-on work in the
garden as they plant and harvest crops in the school’s roof-
top garden. Elements of English, Mathematics and Science
are inter-woven into the lessons and students engage the
community by running a Farmers’ Market after each harvest.10 11 Together We Can

Secondary 2
Equine-assisted Learning (EQUAL) is part of the Secondary
2 curriculum where all students work and interact with
horses as part of a programme to develop their social and
emotional competencies. Students learn about empathy,
effective communication, peer dynamics and teamwork
through the programme.
Secondary 3
The Industry Experiential Programme (IEP) is an essential
part of the Secondary 3 vocational education curriculum
where students are given work experience opportunities
with various Industry Partners. Students can hone their
skills in an authentic working environment and the
practical application of what they have learnt in school.
