The sub-planets of Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn and an additional sub-planet of Mars are calculated based on the
division of day or night into eight equal parts.
The first part belongs to the lord of the day, followed by the remaining lords of the week in cyclic order. The eight part is
lordless.In the case of birth at night, out of the eight equal parts, the first seven are allotted to the lords of the planets
starting from the 5th. weekday.
Two different methods are popularly adopted for finding the longitude.In the first method an ascendant is calculated for
the beginning of the period ruled by the planet. In the second method, the end of the period is taken.
In the case of Gulika, the sub-planet of Saturn, a third method is also available to calculate the longitude of the dhumadi
group of subplanets based on fixed values of rise time as given below.The value calculated thus is termed MAANDI in
Astro-Vision Horoscope and presented along with the principal planets in the Rasi Chart.
