MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear St. Agnes School Parents,
Welcome to the month of April and back to school!! I hope that you and your children enjoyed
the beautiful Easter break. The weather was certainly lovely - perfect to be outside and enjoy
it. Now we’re back for our final six weeks of school. Can you believe that???? I didn’t think
this year would go by as fast as it has but it has flown!!!
Our 7th grade class has been busy with their annual flower sale. There are many hanging
baskets and flower packs from which to choose. Any of these make very nice Mother’s Day
gifts, which is right around the corner :). If you wish to place an order, just print out the order
form that is attached to this newsletter, fill it out and return it to the office with payment by
Wednesday, April 21. Proceeds go toward the 7th graders’ activities that will take place during
their 8th grade year.
St. Agnes Virtual Auction
The 2021 St. Agnes Virtual Auction, which will take place Monday, April 26 thru Saturday, May
1, is underway! Stay tuned to our Facebook page for pictures of our featured baskets we have
ready to be auctioned off. More information about this event will be in next week’s newsletter
and will be going home with your child(ren) soon.
Tuition Assistance
Families who are in need of Tuition Assistance for the 2021-2022 school year can complete
the forms online at https://online.factsmgt.com/aid. If this is the first time that you have utilized
this service, you will first need to create an account. After that is completed, you’ll then follow
the steps to complete the forms. There is a deadline of May 1 to have your application
processed.
May Crowning
On Friday, April 30 our first graders will lead us in our annual May Crowning that honors Mary
as Jesus’ mother and the mother of us all. We will also honor our eighth graders with the
presentation of their class ribbons. This presentation marks the beginning of the final activities
that will surround their concluding days at St. Agnes School for our twenty 2021 graduates.
The May Crowning will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Church. Because of capacity limitations
in the Church, only the parents of our 8th graders will be able to attend. We will live
stream this service on the Parish Facebook page for our other classes and parents to view.
SCRIP Program
The SCRIP program for this year ends on Friday, April 30th. On May 1st the program begins
anew and what is expended will be credited toward the 2021-2022 school year. Please be
aware of the $2,000 total purchase that families were asked to commit to or the $125 buy-out
option that could be chosen instead of purchasing SCRIP. The money that is made from
2SCRIP and other fundraisers sponsored by the Parents’ Club is put back into programs for
your children and the school.
Confirmation/First Communion
There will be one more opportunity this school year to celebrate the Sacraments of
Confirmation and First Communion at St. Agnes Parish with Fr. Dan. This has been scheduled
for Sunday, April 18 at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. If any third graders still need to receive the
Sacraments of Confirmation/First Communion or any fourth thru eighth graders still need to
receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, please use this

this date. After April 18, those that are still in need of receiving the sacrament(s) will have to
do so at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. More information regarding this can be
obtained from Mrs. Becker.
Second Grade Confirmation/First Eucharist Retreat
The first Confirmation/First Eucharist Retreat for our second graders will be held on Saturday,
April 17 from 2:00 - 5:30 p.m. (this includes attending the 4:30 p.m. Mass) in the Parish Center.
Because of Covid precautions, this retreat is limited to each child and 1 adult parent/sponsor.

Spring Pictures
Spring pictures have arrived and the packet of them was sent home with your child before
Easter break. If you wish to keep any of the photos, please follow the instructions included in
the packet so that you may pay for them online.
Keep enjoying this beautiful weather with which we’ve been blessed. If it continues the
students can look forward to eating lunch outside again :).

3ABSENTEES
Each parent/guardian is required to notify the school office if a child will be absent
that day. Homework requests may be made at this time for absences. Parents should call the
school office prior to 8:30a.m. and may leave a message on the school answering machine if the
secretary cannot be reached. An email may also be sent to Pam Kink, School Secretary
(pkink@stagnescatholicschool.org). A call or email should be made each day the student is
absent, unless it is known that the child will miss several consecutive days. If such is the case,
the school can be informed with the first phone call/email of the consecutive absence and the
reason.
LATE ARRIVALS & EARLY DISMISSALS
Each parent/guardian is required to notify the school office if a child will be arriving late or
leaving early for an appointment. A written note in advance of the appointment is to be sent to
the school office through the teacher for the release of a student from school for doctor, dental or
other appointments. Emails may be sent to the teacher and to Mrs. Pam Kink
(pkink@stagnescatholicschool.org) as well. A parent must personally pick up the child at the school
office. A student must check in at the school office upon returning from an appointment to get
an admit slip to return to class.
REMOTE ATTENDANCE
If your child must remain home for a period of up to 14 days due to being quarantined (and they’re
feeling well and are able to complete school work), please utilize the following Remote Learning
Daily Attendance Google form link (https://bit.ly/remoteattendance) to sign them into school for
remote learning (even if working offline) by 8:30 a.m. the mornings that they are gone.
GRADE K
Happy Spring! Kindergarten is springing into the final quarter of school! We planted
grass seeds this week. Hmmmm, what will "Harry" grow into??? We are also exploring the
ocean. Seahorses, rainbow fish, etc. o my! We are also studying the life cycle of the butterfly.
We are watching them grow!!
GRADE 2
Congratulations to Andrew and Morgan who finished all of the 2nd grade Mathletics
activities and are moving to the 3rd grade course.
JR. HIGH SCIENCE
MARCH MAMMAL MADNESS- that's a wrap!
It was a tight competition among the students and animals, BUT we have winners both in the
MMM bracket and among the students. The MMM winner was the Red Kangaroo. His smarts
and strong kicks were no match for the other animals. Among our students, it was a heated
contest. From 7B, Elizabeth P. won overall! Our second place winner was Spencer W. in 6B
and our third place winner was Kaden G. in 7A. Congratulations to our winners!
4ST. AGNES VIRTUAL SPRING TALENT SHOW!
Plans have begun for the first ever "St. Agnes Virtual Spring Talent Show!" We plan on
recording all school acts during the day of Wednesday, May 12th. Students wishing to
participate in the Talent Show need to have their acts approved by Mrs. DePatis. Rehearsal
times will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 - 3:00. This year, we will be allowing family
participation! The Talent Show is open to students in Grades 3 through 8. So, if you and your
family are interested in participating in this fun event, please contact Mrs. DePatis!
7TH GRADE SPRING FLOWER SALE
It’s that time again! Please consider purchasing spring flowers from the St. Agnes 7th
grade class. As in years past, money raised will be used next year for 8th grade events. Our
fundraiser supports the greenhouse affiliated with Shelby County Community Services, whose
purpose “is to provide and promote mental health and rehabilitation programs for the residents
of Shelby County.” Please see the attached order form. Deadline for order forms is
Wednesday, April 21. Orders may be sent to the school office. Flowers will be ready for pick up
at school on Saturday, May 1st from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. Contact Ellen Bartletti with questions
(741-3967).
CHANGE IN LUNCH MENU
The lunch menu for Friday, April 23 will be *Hot Dog on Bun, Chili or Cheese Sauce,
Baked Beans and Fruit. The lunch menu for Thursday, April 29 will be *Pigs in a Blanket,
Curly Fries and Fruit. Please make a note of this change. Thank you.
PARENTS’ CLUB NEWS
It is almost time for the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luncheon (formerly breakfast)!
One of the ways that we shower our teachers with love is through some gift cards to their
favorite places. We are looking for donations of $10 gift cards for our teachers. You can even
buy them through SCRIP and let your money go further. Gift cards should be given to the

Attention 8th grade girls - SHG Cheer is holding tryouts for next season on May 3rd-5th! An
informational meeting will be held April 20th at 6pm in East Commons for potential athletes
