FRIDAY NEWSLETTER

Dear St. Cecilia Family,
Another crazy, insane week! I am so sorry for the inconvenience on Monday and school cancellation.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding with the unforeseen problem. Our facilities
manager has assured me that no permanent damage was done to the pipes and the problem shouldn't
happen again.
The school has begun Family Groups this week. We have split all the classes up and created mini
classes of 11-12 students in grades kindergarten to 8th grade. Our school staff members are all involved
in creating and implementing prayerful, service oriented monthly classes that will focus on our Catholic
faith and service learning. We will have one more meeting this year then begin next year with monthly
classes. On Tuesday, all of our groups chose a Saint to learn about and model themselves after and
began assembling a poster that will represent their family group. The staff enjoyed it and the students
seemed to really like the break in the regular schedule and getting to know students across grade levels.
We hope our regular family group classes will ignite leadership in our upper grade students, and a strong
Catholic identity throughout our school. Ask your child who their saint is.
On Friday, when you all begin break, the teachers will be in school learning more on the implementation
of successful service learning opportunities for the kids. We will also be practicing our emergency

FRIENDLY REMINDERS
From your School Office
The school day begins at 8:45 a.m. Students are expected to be in the building, unpacked
and at their desks at that time. Students are considered tardy at 8:50 a.m. Arrivals after
8:50 will result in an unexcused tardy on your student’s transcript. Excessive tardiness can
cause anxiety for your children as they miss valuable classtime as well as disrupt the daily
classroom schedule.
Students arriving after the 8:45 a.m. bell must be escorted into the school building by their
parent/guardian/driver, etc. For the safety of your student, please do not drop them off in
front of the school!!
Students who are tardy (after 8:50) must be signed into the office and get a signed tardy slip
from one of the school administrative assistants. Failure to do so may result in your student
being counted as absent and/or not being signed up for hot lunch.
Parent/Guardian drivers all must adhere to the car drop off policy. Car drop off is in front of
the Church sidewalk between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Please do not drop your students off
in front of the school to avoid waiting in the car line. We realize the winter weather has
been harsh but it is extremely important that our families cooperate with these policies. We
are very fortunate to have bus service for our students from the Columbus City Schools,
South-Western City Schools and Hilliard City Schools. The bus drivers become very
frustrated if they have to wait for parents to move their cars in the morning ! They have a
very tight schedule to maintain and even a few minutes makes a difference to those other
students waiting in the cold!!

We are so happy to announce that St. Cecilia has
received a $20,000 grant in order to support the
position of Cultural Diversity Specialist through
the Catholic Foundation. Mrs. Laura Kreber has
been such a wonderful addition to our school office
and the St. Cecilia community. Please offer up a
prayer of thanks to The Catholic Foundation and
their donors for their great generosity. With their
help we are able to continue our outreach efforts to
our Spanish speaking friends and families.
The Knights of Columbus Immaculate Heart Council 5899 are pleased to announce the availability of our Memorial Scholarship to be awarded in 2019. Two $300.00 scholarships will be awarded to students attending St. Cecilia School in grades 4 through 8. The Knights of Columbus relies on four principles that define our mission. These pillars of Charity, Unity, Fraternity (Brotherly Love) and Patriotism define all we do. Our organization was formed in 1882 to primarily provide for families of deceased members of Catholic immigrants. In 1951,the Knights of Columbus adopted a resolution and pushed legislature to amend the Pledge of Allegiance with the addition of the words "Under God" after the words "One Nation." The Knights of Columbus scholarship Board will govern each scholarship. We have some new changes this year. You will be receiving a application to apply for this scholarship. After submitting your application, our board will select the finalists and they will be invited to an interview with our scholarship board. After the interviews, we will select two students to receive the scholarships for this school year, and we will present them both with a check. 7/1/2020 Wednesday SummerNOTA INFORMATIVA DEL VIERNES 21 DE MARZO DE 2019 Querida familia de Santa Cecilia, ¡Otra semana loca, loca! Lamento mucho los inconvenientes del lunes y la cancelación de la escuela. Muchas gracias por su paciencia y comprensión con el problema imprevisto. Nuestro gerente de mantenimiento me aseguró que no se hicieron daños permanentes a las tuberías y que el problema no debería volver a ocurrir. La escuela ha comenzado “Family Group” esta semana. Hemos dividido todas las clases y hemos creado mini clases de 11 a 12 estudiantes en los grados de kidnergarten a octavo grado. Todos los miembros del personal de nuestra escuela están involucrados en la creación e implementación de clases orales orientadas al servicio que se enfocarán en nuestra fe católica y nuestro aprendizaje de servicio. Tendremos una reunión más este año y luego comenzaremos el próximo año con clases mensuales. El martes, todos nuestros grupos eligieron a un Santo para aprender y modelarse después y comenzaron a armar un poster que representará a su grupo familiar. El personal lo disfrutó y a los estudiantes parecía gustarles el descanso en el horario regular y conocerlos en todos los niveles de grado. Esperamos que nuestras clases regulares de grupos familiares enciendan el liderazgo en nuestros estudiantes de grados superiores y una fuerte identidad católica en toda nuestra escuela. Pregúntale a tu hijo quién es su santo. El viernes, cuando todos comiencen las vacaciones, los maestros estarán en la escuela aprendiendo más sobre la implementación de oportunidades de aprendizaje de servicio exitoso para los niños. También practicaremos nuestra evacuación de emergencia caminando a nuestro sitio secundario. Tendremos problemas para resolver todos los escenarios posibles, de modo que si algo sucede mientras la escuela está en sesión, estaremos preparados y listos. Las vacaciones de primavera comienzan mañana y les deseo a todos un descanso tranquilo y maravilloso. Si se va de vacaciones, tenga un viaje seguro, y si se queda en casa, salga y disfrute del clima primaveral. Nuestras oraciones de Cuaresma permanecen con todos ustedes a pesar de que la escuela no está en sesión. Manténganse seguros y los veré a todos el lunes 1 de abril. El Consejo del Corazón Inmaculado de Caballeros de Colón 5899 se complace en anunciar la
disponibilidad de nuestra Beca Conmemorativa que se otorgará en 2019. Se otorgarán dos becas de
$ 300.00 a los estudiantes que asisten a la Escuela St. Cecilia en los grados 4 a 8. Los Caballeros de
Colón cuentan con cuatro Principios que definen nuestra misión. Estos pilares de Caridad, Unidad,
Fraternidad (Amor Fraternal) y Patriotismo definen todo lo que hacemos. Nuestra organización se
formó en 1882 para proveer principalmente a las familias de miembros fallecidos de inmigrantes
católicos. En 1951, los Caballeros de Colón adoptaron una resolución y presionaron a la legislatura
para enmendar el Juramento de Lealtad con la adición de las palabras "Debajo de Dios" después de
las palabras "Una Nación". El Consejo de becas de los Caballeros de Colón regirá cada beca.
Tenemos algunos cambios nuevos este año. Recibirá una solicitud para solicitar esta beca. Después
de presentar su solicitud, nuestra junta seleccionará a los finalistas y serán invitados a una entrevista
con nuestra junta de becas. Después de las entrevistas, seleccionaremos a dos estudiantes para
recibir las becas para este año escolar, y les presentaremos a ambos un cheque. Si tiene alguna

Desde la oficina de tu escuela
El día escolar comienza a las 8:45 a.m. Se espera que los estudiantes estén en el
edificio, desempacados y en sus escritorios en ese momento. Se considera que los
estudiantes llegan tarde a las 8:50 a.m. Las llegadas después de las 8:50 resultarán en
una tardanza injustificada en la transcripción de su estudiante. Las tardanzas
excesivas pueden causarle ansiedad a sus hijos, ya que se pierden una clase valiosa y
también interrumpen el horario de clases diario.
Los estudiantes que lleguen después del timbre de las 8:45 a.m. deben ser
acompañados al edificio de la escuela por sus padres / tutores / conductor, etc. ¡Por la
seguridad de su estudiante, no los deje en la escuela!
Los estudiantes que llegan tarde (después de las 8:50) deben registrarse en la
oficina y obtener un comprobante de tardanza firmado por uno de los asistentes
administrativos de la escuela. Si no lo hace, puede hacer que su estudiante se considere
ausente y / o no se haya registrado para un almuerzo caliente.
Drivers Todos los conductores de padres / tutores deben cumplir con la política de
dejar el automóvil. La entrega de automóviles se realiza frente a la acera de la Iglesia
entre las 8:30 a.m. y las 8:45 a.m. No deje a sus estudiantes frente a la escuela para
evitar esperar en la fila de automóviles. Nos damos cuenta de que el clima invernal ha
sido duro, pero es extremadamente importante que nuestras familias cooperen con
estas políticas. Somos muy afortunados de tener servicio de autobús para nuestros
estudiantes de las escuelas de Columbus City, South-Western City Schools y Hilliard
City Schools. ¡Los conductores de autobuses se sienten muy frustrados si tienen que
esperar a que los padres muevan sus autos en la mañana! ¡Tienen un horario muy
apretado para mantener e incluso unos pocos minutos hacen una diferencia para
aquellos otros estudiantes que esperan en el frío!
