Ceramics - Coiling

Cost per day: Early bird £72, Full price £80

Coiling is a hand building method of creating pottery. It has been used to shape clay into
vessels for many thousands of years across the globe, from Africa to Greece and China to
Mexico. We will use classical Greek vessel forms and pattern to inspire our ideas and create a
vessel by the end of this one day course. In the morning session you will learn how to prepare
clay, kneading and wedging, then prepare coils and start to build your vessel. In the afternoon
session you will complete your vessel and decorate using coloured underglaze slips and
sgraffito decoration. The finished clay work will be fired and available for collection at a later
date. Students who have attended this course previously will have an opportunity to extend
their skills and outcomes will be adapted to extend learning.

Ceramics - Slab building

Cost per day: Early bird £72, Full price £80

difficult to achieve with coiling. Slab building techniques were used extensively by Pre-
Columbian potters with some beautiful results. We will use Pre Columbian pattern and

morning session you will learn how to prepare clay, kneading and wedging, then creating clay
slabs and making plaster stamps based on Pre-Columbian motifs. During the afternoon
session you will construct geometric vessel forms learning how to build with slabs and decorate
using the plaster stamps to create bas relief. The clay work will be glazed and fired and
available for collection at a later date. Students who have attended this course previously will
have an opportunity to extend their skills and outcomes will be adapted to extend learning

to learning new languages. He began to formally construct a method for himself, which he
subsequently developed into Linguisticator. Aaron is currently working to expand the
company’s offering of courses in both language and memory training. He is also involved in a
number of projects related to language and memory training for children with special
