For large doors between 8m2 & 25m2. The door is Suitable for relatively small openings. The weight of the

HEADROOM REQUIREMENTS
Listed below are the normal headroom and side room requirements for the various sizes of doors. The minimum
headroom requirements are calculated on the assumption that the doors will have press steel canopies.

7AUTOMATION FEATURES
Automation of your fire resistant roller shutter includes the following:
• Econo 500/750 indirect drive motor including battery back-up
• Wall mount controller
• Xpanda fire detection system including separate battery back-up
• Electronic smoke and heat detector, with the option of installing a secondary detector further into the building.
• Safety alarm that includes a “DOOR CLOSING” warning light with 30 second time delay to allow for evacuation.
• Our system can be integrated into the building fire alarm system.
• As both the motor and fire detection system have their own battery back up, the doors will still be functional
should the building’s electrical supply be compromised in the event of a fire or power failure or outage.

GENERAL NOTES
Xpanda Fire shutters are SABS tested in accordance with SANS 1253:2016 for vertical sliding doors.

• In Accordance to SANS 1253:2016, Xpanda Fire Shutters have been restricted to a Maximum width of 5000mm
and a maximum height of 3000mm. Whilst the automation equipment is capable of operating larger doors, it is
important to note that on doors higher that 3000mm the controlled descend will exceed the SANS 1253:2016
specification of 30 seconds.
• The motor, as well as the fire detection system have built in battery back-up units, and we recommend that these
batteries be replaced every 18 months.
• Motors supplied are non-zone 2/EX type motors and cannot be used in hazardous areas.
• SABS test reports supplied on request.

Q What is the maximum size roller shutter that can be Manufactured?
A Roller shutters are generally restricted to a maximum size of 50sq/m or 10000w x 5000h, Call Xpanda technical
department for further assistance on large doors.
Q What is the maximum width for perforated or fenestra doors?
A Maximum with is 7000mm, Refer to technical department for other options.
Q Is it possible to have a door with a high duty cycle springs?
A Yes, While all doors are designed with springs that have a industry standard of 10 000 cycles, it is possible to de-
sign a door with a higher duty cycle if required, this will have be designed and costed by the technical department.
Q Can I change from chain operated door to motorised?
A It can be done but is very dependent on the motor being used, as most motors have different stub shaft require-
ments.
Q What is the maximum size Aluminium shutter?
A Aluminium shutters are restricted by extrusion lengths at 7000mm wide, however they can be made wider by
special order from the mill provided the quantity required meets the minimum order quantity from the mill.
Q What is the maximum size Steel Sectional Overhead door?
A 5000w x 5000h
Q What is the maximum size Panoramic Garage Door ?
A Maximum width 7000mm, maximum height 5500h, total of 24.5 sq/m
Q What type of Glass is used on Panoramic Garage Doors ?
