A job interview often includes multiple rounds, but the technical interview and HR interview are two of the most
important. Although both evaluate your suitability for a role, they focus on very different areas.

A technical interview determines whether you have the knowledge and practical skills required to perform the job.
Interviewers may ask conceptual, problem-solving, or scenario-based questions related to your field. For example, a
data analyst may be asked about SQL, data analysis, tools, or how they would handle a dataset with missing values. The
goal is to assess your technical competence and ability to apply your knowledge to real workplace situations.

An HR interview, on the other hand, focuses on your overall suitability for the organization. HR professionals typically
evaluate communication skills, professional attitude, career goals, workplace behavior, cultural fit, salary expectations,
and motivation for applying. Common questions include “Tell me about yourself,” “Why are you interested in this role?”
and “What are your career goals?”

The best way to prepare is to approach both rounds differently. For a technical interview, revise the core concepts of
your field, practice real-world problems, and become familiar with the tools mentioned in the job description. For an HR
interview, prepare a clear introduction, research the company and role, and think carefully about your career goals and
motivations.

Ultimately, clearing a technical interview does not always guarantee a job offer. Candidates may still be evaluated
during the HR round based on communication, expectations, and organizational fit. Preparing for both sides of the
interview process can help you demonstrate not only what you know, but also how you communicate, think, and work
with others.
