The Collect of the Day
          The Lord be with you.
People And also with you.
Celebrant Let us pray.
Most high, omnipotent, good Lord, grant your people grace to renounce gladly the vanities of
this world; that, following the way of blessed Francis, we may, for love of you, delight in your
whole creation with perfectness of joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Lessons
A reading from Job 39:1-18
Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you observe the calving of the deer? Can
you number the months that they fulfil, and do you know the time when they give birth, when
they crouch to give birth to their offspring, and are delivered of their young? Their young ones
become strong, they grow up in the open; they go forth, and do not return to them. "Who has let
the wild ass go free? Who has loosed the bonds of the swift ass, to which I have given the steppe
for its home, the salt land for its dwelling-place? It scorns the tumult of the city; it does not hear
the shouts of the driver. It ranges the mountains as its pasture, and it searches after every green
thing. "Is the wild ox willing to serve you? Will it spend the night at your crib? Can you tie it in
the furrow with ropes, or will it harrow the valleys after you? Will you depend on it because its
strength is great, and will you hand over your labour to it? Do you have faith in it that it will
return, and bring your grain to your threshing-floor? "The ostrich’s wings flap wildly, though its
pinions lack plumage. For it leaves its eggs to the earth, and lets them be warmed on the ground,
forgetting that a foot may crush them, and that a wild animal may trample them. It deals cruelly
with its young, as if they were not its own; though its labour should be in vain, yet it has no fear;
because God has made it forget wisdom, and given it no share in understanding. When it spreads
its plumes aloft, it laughs at the horse and its rider."

           The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.

A reading from Colossians 1:9-20
For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that
you may be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so
that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good
work and as you grow in the knowledge of God. May you be made strong with all the strength
that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with
patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the
inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and
transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the
forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in him
all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or
dominions or rulers or powers — all things have been created through him and for him. He
himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the
church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place
in everything. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was
pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace
through the blood of his cross.

           The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.

The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew
People Glory to you, Lord Christ.

Matthew 11:25-30

Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these
things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for
such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no
one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and
anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. “Come to me, all you that are weary and
are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn
from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

           The Gospel of the Lord.
People Praise to you, Lord Christ.

The Sermon The Rev. Joe Robinson

                                                6
The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is,
seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one
Being with the Father. Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he
became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made human. For our sake he was
crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose
again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right
hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his
kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and
the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through
the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one
baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of
the world to come. Amen.

Prayers of the People on St. Francis’ Day
For the artistry of spinning Spiders, the industry of Ants, for all alert animals of field and forest,
for Squirrels that gather, Chipmunks that chatter, and for Mice that burrow.
We give you thanks, O Lord.
For the splendor of the great deep and sparkling streams, for Water Bugs and Dolphins, for all
Fish and all sea-life, and for the sheer size of Whales.
We give you thanks, O Lord.
For all things that fly and have taught us to reach upward, for Pelicans and Parakeets, Barn Owls
and Peacocks, for Eagles that soar, and for Birds that nest in eaves and attics, reminding us that
we are not alone.
We give you thanks, O Lord.
For beasts that lumber, for Elephants and Hippos, Grizzly Bears and Tortoises, Porcupines and
Three-toed Sloths, and for all creatures that remind us not to hurry.
We give you thanks, O Lord.
For graceful beasts, for the Great Cats, for Gazelle, for Giraffe, and for Flamingos, Fox, and
Fawns.
We give you thanks, O Lord.

                                                   7
For the animals that work for human good, for Horses, Oxen, Mules, and beasts of burden, for
Dogs who lead the blind and track the lost.
We give you thanks, O Lord.
For the animals that share our homes, for faithful Dogs and purring Cats, and all creatures that
teach us to love without judgement, for Hamsters, Birds, assorted Reptiles, and Rabbits.
We give you thanks, O Lord.
Give us grace to learn from the animal kingdom that you created all things, that we might work
together for a truly common good.
Hear us, O Lord.
Deliver us from the presumption that we are creation’s central act, remind us who are redeemed
by a Cross, that these your animals are redeemed by an Ark of your grace.

Hear us, O Lord.
Make of us proper stewards of all creation, that caring for your creatures and for their homes, we
may come at last to that Peaceable Kingdom where Lion and Lamb lie down together.
Hear us, O Lord.

O God, creator of all things, we remember before you today your servant Francis, who preached
to Birds and gave his cloak to a Beggar. Give us the grace of Francis, that we may be instruments
of your peace. Give us generous spirits, that we, with reckless and joyful abandon, may sow your
truth throughout the world.
Give us the mind of Christ, that we may accept all who call upon your name, that Birds and
Beggars and all creation may all be drawn into that kingdom, which lives forever in your
presence through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God of all creation you have made us stewards of this fragile earth and responsible
guardians for all its creatures. We thank you for the blessing of animal friends and
companions.
Send your blessing upon these animal friends of ours. May we be good caretakers and
friends to them. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Concluding Collects
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: look graciously on your church and so guide the minds
of those who shall choose a rector for this parish that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will
care for your people and equip us for all our ministries; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty and Everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven and on earth, hear our prayers for this
parish family. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all

                                                 8
things necessary for our common life and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your
holy Church through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Confession of Sin
Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.
Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; in your compassion forgive us our sins, known
and unknown, things done and left undone; and so uphold us by your Spirit that we may
live and serve you in newness of life, to the honor and glory of your Name; through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.

Absolution
Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ,
strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life.
Amen.

The Peace

People And also with you.

Text: For the earth forever turning, for the skies, for every sea; to our Lord we sing, returning
home to our blue green hills of earth. For the mountains,hills, and pastures in this silent majesty;
for all stars, for all the heavens sing we our joyful praise to Thee. For the sun, for rain and
thunder, for the seasons' harmony, for our lives, for all creation, sing we our joyful praise to
Thee. For the earth forever turning, for the land that gave us birth, to our Lord we sing, returning
home to the blue green hills of earth.

Let us take a moment before the Eucharist to intentionally hold up and pray for those who are
sick and in need within our parish, especially Robert Blanchet, Marcia Galazzi, Harry Pike,
Tracy Weeks, Donna, Jack, John, Lauren, Mike, Veronica and also remember those who have
died, especially Amy Eilers.

The Great Thanksgiving Eucharistic Prayer C

Celebrant: May God be with you.
       People: And also with you.
       Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to God.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to God.
People: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

God of all power, Ruler of the Universe, you are worthy of glory and praise.
Glory to you for ever and ever.

At your command all things came to be: the vast expanse of interstellar space, galaxies, suns, the
planets in their courses, and this fragile earth, our island home.
By your will they were created and have their being.

From the primal elements you brought forth the human race, and blessed us with memory,
reason, and skill. You made us the rulers of creation. But we turned against you, and betrayed
your trust; and we turned against one another.
Have mercy, God, for we are sinners in your sight.

Again and again, you called us to return. Through prophets and sages you revealed your
righteous Law. And in the fullness of time you sent your only Son, born of a woman, to
fulfill your Law, to open for us the way of freedom and peace.
By his blood, he reconciled us.
By his wounds, we are healed.

And therefore we praise you, joining with the heavenly chorus, with prophets, apostles, and
martyrs, and with all those in every generation who have looked to you in hope, to proclaim with
them your glory, in their unending hymn:

                                                10
Sanctus S-130 Holy, holy, holy Lord

And so, Father, we who have been redeemed by him, and made a new people by water and the
Spirit, now bring before you these gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be the Body and
Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.

On the night he was betrayed he took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his
friends, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the
remembrance of me.”

After supper, he took the cup of wine, gave thanks, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my
Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Remembering now his work of redemption, and offering to you this sacrifice of thanksgiving,
We celebrate his death and resurrection as we await the day of his coming.

God of our Fathers and Mothers; God of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah
and Rachel; God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ: Open our eyes to see your hand at work in
the world about us. Deliver us from the presumption of coming to this Table for solace only, and
not for strength; for pardon only, and not for renewal. Let the grace of this Holy Communion
                                                11
make us one body, one spirit in Christ, that we may worthily serve the world in his name.
Risen God, be known to us in the breaking of the Bread.

Accept these prayers and praises, Father, through Jesus Christ our great High Priest, to whom,
with you and the Holy Spirit, your Church gives honor, glory, and worship, from generation to
generation. AMEN.

And now, as our Savior
Christ has taught us,
we are bold to say,

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
  thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
 for ever and ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

Hymn S-164 Jesus, Lamb of God

The gifts of God for the people of God. Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and
feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving.

Prayer for Spiritual Communion
Holy Jesus, Redeemer of the World, we believe that you are present in the Blessed
Sacrament of this altar. Even while we are unable to receive you in the elements of bread
and wine, we invite you to enter our hearts and be our companion along the way. As we
receive you in spirit, we long to know your presence in the community of believers once
again. Awaiting in hope, we rest in the faith that you are present in every moment of our
lives and will never leave us comfortless. For all good things come from you O Lord, and
from that goodness, lead us to the love of others. For you live with the Father and the Holy
Spirit now and forever. Amen.

*For Communion Instructions, please see the last page of the bulletin.

Postcommunion Prayer

to you, and to the Holy Spirit may all creation sing hymns of thanks and praise. Amen.

no one evil for evil. Strengthen the fainthearted. Support the weak. Help the afflicted. Honor all
persons. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Spirit. And the blessing of God, who
creates, redeems, and sustains us, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen.

The new directives from our Bishops regarding re-gathering assume some special care be taken for
the distribution of the sacrament. Please join us in honoring these directives to keep each other safe
and our church able to meet for worship.
At Communion:
After the Breaking of the Bread and the Fraction anthem, those present but not receiving and those
attending by Zoom will be led by the celebrant in the Prayer for Spiritual Communion, during which
the choir will move from the dais to the altar for communion offered at two stations. As they finish,
ushers will instruct members of the congregation when to approach the altar. Please go to the
station on your side of the center aisle remaining masked, and allow the priest to place the
consecrated host in the palm of your hand. Then, once returned to your seat, please remove your
mask to receive the bread then replace it as we wait for others to receive communion. Once all have
received, please stand as the celebrant instructs all to join in saying the Post-Communion prayer.
Thank you for being a part of today’s service. It represents one more step toward normal gathering
in our parish’s life.
God’s blessings,
Joe+ and Gail+
