is almost as renowned as the town’s Shake-
speare Festival. As one of Canada’s oldest
independent retail stores, it opened in 1895
and has persevered through the challenges
of the Spanish flu, the Great Depression,
two World Wars and now, Coronavirus.

Well ahead of the trending mass exodus
from big cities to more rural locales, Carrie
Wreford, along with her husband Jeremy
took a leap of faith and moved from Toronto
to Stratford back in 2006 to take over Brad-
shaws, which has been owned and operated
by Jeremy’s family for three generations.
